Dearest Little Wren,
Do take off and wash those stockings once in a while, lest they begin to reek. I am glad they bring you so much joy. As for your drawing—so this is what you think I look like? Horns, wings, and a tail? I am not sure whether to be flattered or insulted!
Sincerely,
Fenn
Dear Fenn,
Then tell me, what do you truly look like? Or better yet, let me see you! Just a glimpse?
Yes, that is exactly what I imagine you look like, and I see no reason to doubt it. But I must say, it isn’t fair that you have seen me while I haven’t seen you. I waited by the tree all day yesterday, hoping for just a peek, but alas, you did not come.
I missed supper for it—not that I missed much. It was only bread and tea, but still, I went to bed hungry. I am often hungry when I go to bed, and then I dream of hot crumpets the whole night.
Tell me, Fenn, what do forest fays eat? Surely something more magical than bread and tea?
Yours truly,
Little Wren
