Page 38 of Knot Enough
THIRTY-SEVEN
Days later, we stood in front of the house I spent most of my life in.
I rubbed my palms on the denim jeans, shifting my weight from one foot to the other.
I’d put extra care into how I looked, so my hair was straightened, and I had on a ruffled top that showed a bit of my belly. I couldn’t stop tugging at it.
As soon as I opened the door, I called out, “Madré, Tamā?”
There was no answer. I climbed the stairs, hurrying up to my bedroom.
Before facing them, I wanted to grab any stuff I wanted to take with me.
We could end up fighting, and I didn’t want to leave my clothes.
I shoved into my bedroom and came to a stuttering halt.
It took me a moment to process what I was looking at.
A running machine, a rack of weights . .
. they put a gym in my room? Where was all my stuff?
It was as if I’d never existed. I backed up and, numb, returned downstairs.
Everything blurred around me as my mind raced.
I strode to the kitchen and found them in the second living room attached to it. Mom saw me first. She jumped to her feet and rushed at me. For once, I saw genuine concern on her face. My lip trembled. Had she missed me?
She clamped my shoulders in a hard grip. This was the first time she’d ever looked at me with something other than annoyance.
“Have you seen Valerie?” she said, rushed. “She hasn’t come back in days, and she didn’t leave us a text.”
I could only blink. Her shaking my shoulders snapped me out of my stunned state.
“Did you guys even realize I’d been kidnapped?”
She frowned, her hands sliding off my biceps.
“Kidnapped?” I could only gawk. “We figured the pack you went to meet took you in.”
I couldn’t believe this. It hit me all at once. Yes, I’d always seen how differently they treated Val compared to me, but they hadn’t even considered me. My own mother didn’t even bother to check if I was okay.
She sucked in an audible breath and swept her gaze over my shoulder. She inhaled sharply again and leaned closer, sniffing me.
“Why do you smell like an Omega?” she muttered, breathing me in. I leaned my head away.
“Because I am one.”
“No,” she breathed. She didn’t stop inhaling. “You’re a late bloomer, but I’ve never heard of a female coming into her designation this late in life.” She was breathless and slightly awed.
I was never a ‘late bloomer’ Valerie just forced suppressants on me, but I didn’t say the words that wanted to spill free. She gave me a look I’d never seen directed at me.
“You’re an Omega?”
I gritted my molars, staring at her.
“My hija ,” she clasped my face between her palms, squeezing my cheeks until my lips puckered. “Two Omegas?” Her awe disgusted me.
If they behaved like this, it made it clearer why Valerie didn’t want to risk me being an Omega, all the attention she so desperately craved would have to be shared.
“You’re awful,” I croaked. Mom jolted back like I’d slapped her.
Anger flitted over her expression.
“What is going on now?” Dad said, striding in through the glass door leading outside. He slipped his cell phone into his pocket. He approached so quickly that I could only back up as he invaded my space. My throat clogged up. “Do you know where your sister is?”
I backed up in the face of his aggression.
“Get away from her,” Kane snarled, dominance in his voice. I hadn't realized he'd followed me in. Both my parents cringed back. I stayed frozen as they whipped to look at him. Their eyes wide, their jaws slack.
Kane curled his arm around my waist. Grimm’s arms were crossed, and he stood closer to the kitchen, sneering at them.
“Stop wasting your time here. I’ll replace anything you need,” Kane said, not addressing my parents. He swept me to his side and pulled me back toward the front. I stumbled after him, numb. The hallway held a bunch of pictures neatly lined up.
“They’re cocks,” Grimm murmured, studying the images.
None of them would have a picture of me.
He made a point to put his hand out as he walked, unmounting all the pictures.
The thud of them, the sound of glass shattering, followed us all the way to the door.
Oak waited there, and he squeezed the back of my neck.
“Everything will be okay,” he murmured. I blinked, feeling numb as hell. This was the reality I’d always refused to acknowledge. Mom and Dad never cared about me.
I straightened my shoulders and lifted my chin, meeting Oak’s eyes, and said, “Fuck them.”
They could worry about her whereabouts for the rest of their lives. My pack was my family now. Oak and Kane surrounded my sides as they returned to the car, where Axel idled in the driver’s seat.
“Where did Rath go?” Kane snapped.
Rath jogged up as if Kane’s words summoned him.
“I left them a little surprise.” He shrugged and hopped into the car.
“For someone who works at the council, you really shouldn’t be,” I muttered. His grin was feral. It was a good thing Oak was his assistant. He likely kept him in line.
Axel drove past my old, broken-down car.
“Our girl needs a little pick-me-up,” Rath smirked and swatted Axel, who grunted. He took a sharp left, driving into the darkening sky.
The bar was dark, and people danced on the dance floor with embedded strobing lights.
I was on my way back to our table after going to the bathroom. The guys were so clingy, it was crazy. I had to threaten them with no sex for them to let me go alone.
“Valerie?” The call was muffled and sudden. I didn’t get a chance to search for the voice because a hand wrapped around my bicep.
The flashing lights only allowed a brief glimpse of him. He was incredibly pretty and huge. I yanked at my arm and not mine .
“What are you doing?” I scowled.
“Let her go, Zade,” Grimm snapped, his arm going around my waist and his other one reaching over to grip his forearm.
Zade’s eyebrows rose.
“Where the fuck have you both been?” he snapped at Grimm and looked back down at me.
“Take your filthy hand off my Omega,” Kane came in hot, getting in Zade’s face, who finally released me with his hands up. They converged on me so quickly, there was no doubt they’d been watching me close by from the start, only giving me the illusion that I’d been alone.
“Reapers,” he hissed, backing up with a sneer at Kane. Rath stood behind him, arms crossed and glaring.
“You joined their pack?” Zade asked, eyebrows furrowed. He looked closer at me. “You’re not Val . . .”
“No shit,” Rath said with a smirk.
A large bouncer approached, talking into his earpiece.
“No fighting,” he ordered. Rath lifted his hands.
Another male pushed through; he was slim and just as attractive. His eyes flicked over the scene with his lips turned down.
“Grimm?” he asked.
“Kells.”
Kells’ gaze dropped to mine, and he squinted, studying me hard. Kane had stiffened against me.
“Where’s Valerie?” he asked.
Was this her Dolion Pack?
“No idea,” Grimm shrugged. “Last I heard, she was messing around with a pack up north.”
Kells frowned and backed up.
“So she just left?” He looked so sad. I felt bad for him. He seemed heartbroken. But as bad as I felt, all I could think about was how hot it’d become in here.
“Forget about her, kid.” Grimm sounded as gentle as I’d heard him.
“I’m done,” Kells said, dejected. “I’m done.” He shook his head, tears flooding his eyes. He disappeared into the crowd. I was warm. Really warm. I fanned my face, but nothing was helping.
“He’s a good kid,” Grimm tsked.
That familiar heat worsened, and I pulled at the collar of my shirt.
I grabbed Kane’s arm.
“Kane,” I gasped and staggered forward until my body was flush to his.
His hand settled on my spine, and I arched toward the touch.
I whimpered, rubbing my cheek against his chest. I knew exactly what this meant now.
The painful need that bloomed in my stomach was easy to pinpoint because nothing felt like this. “My heat.”
Kane stiffened and pulled me in front of him. He waved down Axel, who was getting our drinks. Grimm caught on quickly and stepped in front of us, clearing the path to the exit. The writhing crowd blurred, and it was all I could do not to arch back into Kane.
Finally, we got outside, and it was easier to hear.
“I want my nes—home. Take me home,” I whimpered. Inhaling, his eyes darkened as he noted the change in my scent.
“Did you grab Oak?” Kane’s voice echoed to me, but I didn’t have the capacity to look at who he was talking to.
“I’m right here,” Oak said, hurrying past us and climbing into the passenger seat.
“Axe, drive,” Kane ordered. Grimm held the door open, and Kane slid inside, settling me on his lap. Rath scooted in next to Kane, and Grimm sat on his other side. My ass settled on Kane, and I wiggled, feeling the pressure under me.
“I want to go home,” I repeated, wriggling. Kane’s hand smoothed down my side in comforting little glides. “I want . . . I want . . .”
Kane delved into my shorts, and his finger curved into my panties. The cold touch against my clit sent a wave of desire through my core. I whimpered and arched.
“Spread your legs, little monster,” Rath murmured, his hand on my knee forcing my legs open. It allowed Kane’s fingers to roll inside my channel. I cried out. “So needy.”
Rath slid his hand against Kane’s and shoved two fingers beside Kane’s.
I moaned and reached over, gripping Rath’s cock.
Rath groaned. It made me hotter. My mouth watered with the urge to have him against my tongue.
I leaned to the side until I could reach him.
The glide of Kane’s and Rath’s fingers continuing and adjusting with my change of position.
I lay on my side across their laps, my ass nestled against Kane’s abs.
I leaned over and took Rath in my mouth. The warm, silky skin rubbed against my tongue. I moaned, licking him.
“Get home, fucking quick,” he choked out.
I moaned and bit his dick.
He grunted, and a jet of precum coated my tongue.
“Fuck, fuck, fuck,” he moaned. The sound of their pleasure was music to my ears.
