Page 20 of Knot Enough
NINETEEN
Irritation festered as the two words I never thought I’d hear fell from her lips.
I loathed the pride that bubbled up within me as I watched her enjoy what I made for her.
The sick satisfaction I got from knowing she was eating my food.
I blamed my designation for that. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t keep my eyes off her.
Every time her sinful mouth opened and wrapped around her fork, every fucking moan, even the little wiggle she tried not to do whenever the food touched her tongue, forced my gaze back to her.
Axel’s stupid face told me he saw more than he should, and it made my fist twitch.
Observant bastard. As if he could hear my thoughts, he smirked, but I ignored him.
He was pack, but I had never wanted to run his face through a window as much as I did right then.
Of course, his smirk turned into a toothy grin as he stared straight through my bullshit.
I knew whatever was about to come out of his mouth was going to piss me off. I gritted my molars as I waited.
“Deep, deep, deep, down, Rath is a big ole softy.”
“Really?” Little Monster asked. Her eyes widened as her lips parted. My cock lengthened lower down my thigh. I wanted to bury myself in her tight, warm cunt and breed her until she was filled with my—I shook my head as Axel laughed.
“No,” he deadpanned.
“Oh,” she breathed, and then giggled.
This little Omega was a thorn in my side.
She was an itch I couldn’t scratch, a blister I didn’t want to stop picking at.
I watched her for months without her having a clue.
One second, I wanted to kill her, and the next, I wanted to fuck her face while she knelt over broken glass.
Everything in me knew she would be our downfall if we weren’t careful, but still, I edged closer.
And when I say “we”, I mean the rest of the pack.
She had Axel wrapped around her finger. Kane said one thing and then moved alone.
Yet the one who really got under my skin was Oak.
I’d seen him suffer the most, but there was a change in him.
I sensed it when I brought her here, even after I explained who she was.
I could see it. He was falling. They all were.
Like moths to a flame, they gravitated toward her.
They burned for her, while I was still far away enough to only feel the heat from the fire. I used both heads to think.
When I got back last night, I could scent her arousal as they chased her through the vineyard.
Alpha instincts demanded I join in, but the rules of their game differed from mine.
I didn’t want to frolic after her. I wanted to scent her, needed to listen to her heart flutter as she tried to stay quiet, to taste her fear as she ran for her life.
I wouldn’t stop, not even when she was a begging, crying, bleeding Omega crawling away.
After Oak got on my case last night, I decided to make breakfast for her today.
I needed Axel to be my little bird and sing my praises.
They needed to think I was on the same page as them, or at least, making my way there.
I’d do whatever it took to get Oak off my back.
Axel stared at her as if she were the missing piece to our puzzle.
She wasn’t. His eyes softened whenever he looked at her.
The damn idiot wore his heart on his sleeve, as if that dopey grin on his face wasn’t enough.
He said something, and she perked right up.
Her whole demeanor changed when she looked at him.
All traces of fear ebbed away, as if he were her knight sent to vanquish her demons.
I was the only one who could see the wreck around the corner, the elephant in the room no one wanted to talk about.
Enjoy yourself while you can, Little Monster.
We didn’t know why, or what her intentions were, but she killed Kim and Lennox.
Eventually, her mask would fall away, and they would see what I saw: a pathetic, no-good whore.
And when the time came, I would be there to put her in her place.
I had no plans to allow her to fill the hole Kim and Lennox left behind.
When Axel offered to give Kim’s room for her nest, I wished I’d strangled her as soon as I snatched her up.
A dead Omega would have been easier to deal with than the havoc she caused.
She didn’t belong here—not with us. She was our prisoner, not our fucking guest.
You may have fooled them with your big brown eyes, caramel skin, and tight cunt. . . but I know you aren’t our Omega.
“You haven’t asked to leave since Axel brought you out from the dungeons.” The brute shot a glare my way as I interrupted their conversation. Since when did we tiptoe around her feelings?
“Would you let me go if I asked?” She threw back. Arching a brow, she watched me.
“What does a cat do when it catches its prey?” She audibly swallowed and pre-cum beaded at the tip of my cock. I fucking hated my reaction to her.
“It eats it,” she murmured.
“There’s your answer,” I scoffed.
“Rath,” Axel warned.
“Do you want to eat me?” Her voice was low and heated.
I’d fucked enough to know when someone wanted to suck my dick, and the bitched stared at me like she wanted nothing more than to gag on it.
The little monster thought she had me. Her gaze trailed down my body before it returned to my lips.
I grabbed a strand of her hair and rubbed it between my fingers.
I listened to the th-thump of her heart.
Brown hair met flecks of gold in the light, and her tantalizing scent called to instincts that I had thought were long gone.
I leaned in, and she mirrored me. She tilted her chin up, her lashes fluttered shut as her tongue dragged along her bottom lip.
I released her hair and dropped my hand to her thigh and waited until chocolate eyes stared back.
“I decide who gets my cock. And tonight, it isn’t you,” I murmured. Her jaw dropped, and I got to my feet. Axel cursed before I slammed the door on my way out.
