I closed the laptop and set it on the coffee table, then stood to obey.
Over the last two days, we’d only spent a few minutes around others where I had to feign a meek persona. However, Jace had warned me upon our departure that I would need to maintain the part of obedient human as soon as we landed and would have to continue that act until he gave me permission to act otherwise.
He’d also said we wouldn’t be able to hide behind closed doors.
Because apparently surveillance and listening devices were very common in this world.
This concept didn’t shock me since my entire life had been lived inside a heavily guarded bunker. I was also used to following orders.
Which was why I had no trouble walking to the back of the plane to change from my navy lace dress into the red gown.
Although, it wasn’t much of a gown.
The gauzy fabric’s thin straps barely held the dress up on my shoulders. The deep V-neck cut down to my belly button. The back didn’t exist. And while the skirt flowed to the floor, it had two slits that went up to my hips.
I picked up the matching undergarments to wear beneath the fabric. No bra. Just panties, stockings, and straps.
The latter two items had been new to me. However, a tutorial from the designer had helped me understand how to use them.
I slid the ruby-colored thong up my legs, followed by the translucent red stockings, and affixed them to the hooks in the lacy fabric.
A pair of shorter black heels went on next, finishing my outfit. I gave myself a once-over as the jet began to decline, the angle telling me we were on our descent.
Swallowing, I carefully turned, ready to make my way back to Jace, only to find him watching from the doorway.
His icy gaze tracked over me with unveiled interest, his expression hungry.
“Did I do it right?” I asked, showing him my left leg.
He pushed away from the door to stalk toward me.
My heart skipped a beat at his silent approach, the predatory movements reminding me of his superiority and grace.
Each step made swallowing that much harder, until he was right in front of me. His woodsy aftershave taunted my nostrils, the scent one I was starting to crave more than I should.
His fingertips brushed my hip, his gaze holding mine as his touch shifted lower to the strap along my thigh. He traced it down to my stocking and back up again, the caress eliciting goose bumps in his wake.
I stopped breathing as his featherlight stroke slid backward to the strap along my ass. His movement slowed as he tracked it all the way to the lacy fabric on my thighs.
“Perfection,” he whispered, his lips a hairsbreadth from mine. “Fucking stunning.”
He captured my mouth in a bruising kiss that killed my mental faculties.
The burn in my chest told me I needed to do something.
But his tongue was all I could focus on, the tender strokes against mine a hypnotic embrace that redefined life.
Then his blood trickled into my mouth, and I found myself swallowing on instinct, followed by a much-needed inhale.
Only to be wrapped up in his kiss in the next moment as he lifted me from the ground to carry me to the bed. It was similar to the one in the other jet we’d flown on, except more opulent. More intricate. MoreJace.
He laid me down on the mattress as the world continued to tilt around us.
He held me easily in place, his teeth sinking into my lower lip and eliciting a low yelp from my throat. Rather than chastise me for making a sound, he kissed me harder, our blood mingling in the kiss and giving new meaning tovampiric embrace.
His hips settled between mine, the fabric of the dress automatically parting to allow my legs to spread in immediate accommodation.
It was all so natural. So intrinsic. Sohot.
