Page 84 of Kingly Bitten
As though I would ever promote a vampire who enjoyed fucking and eating children.
“I think I can handle delivering that message,” Darius agreed.
“Yes, I imagine you’re more than capable of it. He’s also likely awaiting that message as well.” Which was the real reason I’d requested that the human deliver my bags.
I’d noticed the mortal’s waning state almost immediately. Publicly requesting that he bring up my bags served as a subtle notice to whoever had touched him that I was not only aware of the human’s health but would likely be following up on the transgression after I disposed of the mortal properly.
Only, this one would have a miraculous recovery.
“I’ll need a new job for him,” I continued, thinking through our situation out loud. “The boy, I mean. Not Gaston.”
“I’m sure Ida wouldn’t mind some help around the house. She’s getting older, making a young male exactly what she needs to assist with some of the heavier lifting.”
I nodded. “Yes. Consider him a gift. But I want a name first.”
“As do I,” he agreed.
“No, you want Gaston’s name specifically.”
“Or Sebastian’s,” he offered.
“It won’t be Sebastian. He’s power hungry, but respectful.” I’d never disliked the older vampire, hence the reason I’d named him as a regent in my territory. That was one step below a sovereign. I didn’t trust him enough to give him a higher role, but he intrigued me enough to test him. And thus far, he hadn’t disappointed me.
“We’ll see if I agree after I have dinner with him tomorrow.” Darius’s tone told me it was doubtful.
“He might surprise you,” I replied, meaning it. My attention returned to the kneeling blonde beside the human. “Calina?”
Her fingers were still on the male’s neck. “His pulse is steady again.”
“Yes.” I could hear it thudding enticingly in the air. Just as I could hear hers as well. Between the two, her pulse appealed to me more. As did her scent.
I almost couldn’t even smell Juliet anymore, her blood virgin essence no longer calling to my predatory side.
Calina had ensnared me.
And as her pretty blue-green eyes lifted to meet mine, I understood why.
This female captivated me in every way.
“Come,” I told her, struggling to remember what it was that I needed her to do. The only image in my mind was of her on her knees and swallowing my cock between those beautiful, plump lips.
Alas, it was nearing dawn.
Giving us less than two days to prepare for Lajos Region.
And the subtle buzz against my wrist reminded me what we needed to do in the interim.
“The files are starting to arrive,” I said, recalling our task with clarity. “Damien said there are a handful of logs we need to review, as it seems Lilith left someone instructions on how to take over.”
“Instructions?” Darius repeated.
I nodded. “For someone she considered to be her king.”
Calina’s brow furrowed as she accepted my help up off the floor. “Her king?”
“Damien has only listened to a few so far, but she refers to someone asmy kingandmy liegethroughout the logs. He says there is one for every year, as well as a few that were released upon her death.”
“Implying someone is listening to them now?” Darius guessed.
