"Absolutely Kellan, thank you. I'll tell him you think so."
"You are fit, though, Miss. I get why—"
"Kellan," I warned as he held his hands up in mock surrender.
"Sorry, Miss. Thanks, by the way."
I looked up to see him disappear through the door, clearly not wanting me to look at the man he was becoming.I smiled to myself before gathering my things. I locked the class behind me before heading towards my car. The school had been incredibly supportive after Evan left, and I'd been made permanent. I loved my job and was grateful I could remain there without any stigma attached to me.
I drove home, my smile widening when I saw his truck was already on the drive. I parked behind it, skipping quickly to the front door. The smell of roasted lamb greeted me, making my stomach grumble.
"Honey, I'm home," I called out when I heard a clatter of pots and pans from the kitchen. I slipped my heels off, stretching my aching feet as I made my way to the kitchen.
"Good evening, Miss Martin."
Evan leaned against the doorway, wearing joggers and a loose grey t-shirt. His hair was damp from the shower, and I held his face as I kissed his lips. He smelt so damn good, but the lamb just pipped him.
"I'm starving," I whispered as he grinned at me happily.
"Oh good, because there's a leg of lamb that's been slow cooking on rosemary roasted potatoes for hours..."
I followed him into the kitchen. Our hands entwined as he opened the oven to show me the delicious food.

"Oh, you're too good," I said gleefully, kissing him again before glancing down at the table, seeing the mail there. For six long months, all I'd longed for was the letters Evan would send me. The words read over and over until I memorised them. I shuddered at the memory when Evan looked at me with concern.
"What?"
"Nothing," I said quickly, wrapping my arms around his waist. He kissed the top of my head as I laid it on his chest, his fingers running through my hair as I spoke.
"It's Anya's birthday tomorrow," I reminded him, stifling a yawn. "I've got her gifts. We just need to turn up."
"A kids party. I couldn't think of a better way to spend my Saturday." Evan groaned playfully as I swatted his arm.
"Shut up. You're Amaya's Godfather; you need to behave accordingly."
"Yes, but it's notAmaya'sbirthday," Evan pointed out grumpily as I rolled my eyes. He was obsessed with Amaya, who would be turning two shortly. Kate and Harley had become our extended family, and we often watched the kids so they could have nights out together.
"Sarah will be there," I smirked, knowing how much he adored Sarah.
"Is she bringing her mystery girlfriend?" Evan asked hopefully, dragging two plates out of the cupboard as I poured the red wine.
Sarah had been seeing someone for a while now, and we were dying to find out who. Sarah was highly secretive and refused to tell us until she felt the time was right. We had no option but to accept this, but it didn't stop us from asking her relentlessly.
"Apparently. I wonder who it could be?" I mused, my mouth watering as Evan sliced the meat, the knife gliding through it effortlessly.
"Well, as long as she makes her happy, who cares?"
My heart swelled with love for him, and I reached out to kiss him. He kissed me back before groaning.
"This meat could do with cooling down..." Evan murmured, his fingers trailing down my spine as he dotted soft kisses down my throat.
"Where do you want me?" I asked coyly as his eyes darkened.
"Honestly, I have about ten minutes before the potatoes are finished, so I'd say the lounge..."
I giggled as he lifted me, carrying me towards the sofa.
