Page 54 of His Deadly Devotion
“I might beyourwife, but you’re going to bemyhusband. I can’t wait. How do we do this?”
“Give me your hand.” Connor reaches out an arm, placing my palm in his. Then he holds the ring on my finger. “This is a symbol of my undying love, my never-ending devotion to you. I love you. I promise to always be your dark prince, to always be your ride-or-die person. I promise to love, cherish, and worship you until the devil claims my soul. Even then, I’ll still love you from the pits of hell.”
“I don’t have a ring.” I look around, but I don’t see anything I can use.Shit, what do I do?
“It’s okay,” Connor says, and I smile at him.
“Connor, from the moment I saw you, you woke me up. I can’t explain why, but I’ve stopped questioning it. You are the person I was destined for. I was completely numb before you, and now, I see everything, feel everything. Because of you. I love you, more than I ever thought possible. You are my best friend. I promise to always be your ride-or-die girl. I promise to bring a shovel when you have bodies to bury. I love you. I will always love you, and if you think you’re leaving me to go to hell alone, then you don’t know me very well, because I promise to follow you there.”
Connor’s face moves towards mine, my arms wrap around his neck, and our lips fuse. “Mrs. Valentino-O’Malley, you are mine. Forever,” he whispers against my mouth.
“And you are mine,” I reply. It’s at this point that the skies decide to open up on us.
Within seconds, we’re drenched. Connor picks me up and runs towards the house. I’m laughing the whole way until he sets me on my feet in the bedroom.
“I can’t wait to do unspeakable things to my wife’s body,” he tells me, and my skin heats up as his eyes trail me from head to toe and back again.
“Yeah? What kind of unspeakable things?” I ask, reaching for the bottom of my shirt.
“I don’t even know where to start,” Connor replies, watching my every move as I continue to strip out of my wet clothes.
“Well, you could start with kissing me,” I suggest, now standing in front of him completely naked.
“Easy.” Connor moves forward. His hand cups the back of my neck, and just before his mouth meets mine, I pull away.
“Not there,” I tell him.
With a tilt of his head and a smirk that makes my core weep, his eyes move south. “Where would you like me to kiss you, princess?” he asks.
I move backwards until I can sit on the bed and spread my legs as wide open as they’ll go. My finger runs through my pussy. “Right here.”
Before the words are out of my mouth, Connor is on his knees in front of me. “This is an altar I will always worship at.” His breath sends shivers up my spine as he whispers over my core.
Connor presses the tip of his tongue against my opening and then runs it up to my clit. My head falls backwards, hitting the mattress as pleasure radiates through my body. His mouth closes over my sensitive bundle and he sucks.
“Holy shit. That… Don’t stop.” My hands reach down, my fingers tangling in his hair.
Connor doesn’t disappoint. He does not stop until I’m screaming his name and coming all over his mouth. If this is how life as Mrs. Connor O’Malley is going to be, I’m the luckiest damn wife in all the world.

Bolts of lightning crack through the darkness, thunder rolls over the top of the house, and the windows shake from the wind. I really fucking hate storms. I’ve never liked them. I’m not about to tell Aurora that, though. I push my irrational fears down and pretend that I’m completely unbothered by the weather.
“You think this is like an omen or something?” Aurora says while staring out the window. I’ve asked her numerous times to move back away from the thin layer of glass that separates her from the uprooted tree I can already picture flying through the air.
“What are you talking about? And for the love of god, get away from the window.” I stand and walk over to her.
“The storm. Is this the universe’s way of telling us we’re doomed? We just got married and now it’s storming,” she explains. “That can’t be a good sign.”
“Since when did you believe in signs?” Taking hold of her arm, I drag her over to the sofa.
Her body falls on top of mine, and she shrugs. “I don’t know. It’s just… everything is against us being together, Connor. What if we’re not actually meant to be together?”
“Well, fuck, babe, it’s a good thing I already got you to marry me then—if you’re having second thoughts so soon. There is no out of this, Aurora. And you and me, wearemeant to be together. To hell with what the universe says. To hell with what other people say.” My arms tighten around her waist as I tug her closer.
“I’m not having second thoughts. I just think if the universe is against us, your family is against us, who else do we have to fight to be able to live in peace?”
“Peace? You really think that exists in the world we were born into?”
