“Oh, but I would.” I smirk.

“You are many things, Aurora, but a rat isn’t one of them. Try again,” Lorenzo replies, sounding so sure of himself.

Shit, he’s right.I really wouldn’t rat my brother out. They’ve never ratted me out for anything, well, except for that one time Enzo had to tell my dad I was dating. “Try me,” I bluff.

“Fine. Truce.” He holds out a hand. I accept it, and he tugs me towards him and wraps his arms around me. “You know, it’s fucked up that your boyfriend gets jealous of you hugging your brother,” Lorenzo whispers into my ear.

“Shut up.” I swat at his chest as I pull away from him. “Now, show me these two bedrooms you think we’re sleeping in.”

“I can place guards outside your door. Don’t push it,” Lorenzo grunts and turns around. Kyla has already gone up to the front door and is holding it open.

“You okay?” I ask Connor.

“Never been better.” He smiles at me.

“You can tell me if you’re not,” I say. “It’s not like this is an ideal situation.”

“I’m with you, princess. What could be more ideal than that?” he asks.

“You could be inside me,” I say, keeping my voice low.

“Well, thereisthat.” He chuckles. Placing his hand on my lower back, Connor guides me towards the front door.

“Kyla will give you the tour. I have something I have to do,” Lorenzo says. “Call me if you need anything.”

“Or, you could call me if you need anything,” I counter.

“Yeah, I’ll do that.” Lorenzo laughs as he walks away.

“So… what do you want to see first?” Kyla smiles so wide. “I’m so happy you’re here, and so is Lorenzo.”

“I know,” I tell her. “I would say show me everything, but this palace is bigger than Buckingham.”

“It’s not actually,” she says. “Follow me.”

After Kyla showed us the two bedrooms my brother insisted that we’re staying in, which really are on opposite sides of the house, she said she would meet back up with us later.

“I’m sorry. Please don’t leave me,” I blurt out as soon as Connor and I are alone again.

His brows draw down and he pulls me against his chest. “It’s going to take a lot more than protective brothers to scare me away, Aurora.”

“It’s probably going to get worse,” I warn him.

“Your family loves you. That’s not a bad thing. Besides, there is nothing they can do to me that will change my mind. I justtook a bullet for you, princess. I’m literally Prince Charming right now, swooping in and saving the day and all.” He grins.

“I don’t need to be saved,” I remind him. “I can save myself.”

“I know, but I like saving you.” Connor presses his lips to the top of my head.

“Wanna go see if we can find some booze?” I suggest.

“Fuck yes,” he groans. “Preferably some whiskey.”

“Champagne would be good too,” I counter.

We manage to find our way back to the kitchen. Unfortunately, it’s not empty like I’d hoped.

Shit. I can’t even turn around because he’s already seen me.
