Page 43 of His Deadly Devotion
“Third, she’s gone soft and is losing her touch, O’Malley. You need to exercise her more,” Levi adds.
My elbow jams right into his ribs, as hard as it can. I spin around and land a punch to the right of his face and then another to his abdomen. Levi doubles over. Bringing my leg up, I kick at his chest, and he tumbles back onto his ass.
“How’s this for soft, asshole?” I snarl at him. “Also, I’m not a pet he lets out to exercise. No wonder you can’t get a girl to stick around longer than a night.”

Ican’t help but smile as I watch Aurora put that cocky motherfucker on his ass. I’m still pissed as hell I had to go looking for her and found her in here. On the floor. With another man on top of her.
“Told you.” Bray laughs. “You just got your ass handed to you by a girl.”
Levi picks himself up off the ground. “She’s not a girl. She’s a fucking demon,” he groans before turning to Aurora. “Where the hell did that come from? Those hits landed with effect.”
“You pissed me off.” She lifts a shoulder.
Lorenzo walks into the room and stands next to me. “She just dropped him, didn’t she?” he asks.
“Yep.” I smile.
“Good. Cocky bastard needed to be knocked down a level,” he mumbles, ripping his shirt off his head before stepping up to Aurora. “Bray said you’re losing your touch.”
“I’m not,” Aurora replies with an eye roll.
“Prove it.” Lorenzo holds up his hands as if he’s ready to box with his sister. I watch intently. He’s not going to hit her. I’m ninety-nine percent certain he wouldn’t hit her.
Aurora huffs out a breath. “I’ve just been going against him for thirty minutes,” she whines while gesturing a thumb towards her cousin.
“You think your enemies will care if you’re tired. Hit me,” Lorenzo says.
Aurora places her arms in position, and then she’s throwing punches left and right. Lorenzo blocks them all effortlessly. Which only pisses her off more, fueling the fire within her.
“Break,” I call, walking over to Aurora. “Go for the body. He’s not protecting his left side as heavily and he won’t expect you to hit there. Then right hook, left jab, repeat. Make him fucking bleed, princess.” I kiss the top of her head and step away.
Aurora smiles and nods at me.
She’s fighting someone who’s not actually hitting back. It’s not the same as what a real fight would be like, but she does have good form. Also, I’ve been on the other side of her fist. No matter what her cousins tell her, she doesn’t hit like a girl—that’s for sure.
Aurora does exactly what I told her to do. It catches her brother off-guard, and when she lands a blow to his mouth, it does split. Good.
“Want more?” Aurora asks Lorenzo with a raised brow.
He shakes his head. “Don’t you have schoolwork you should be doing?” he counters.
“It’s done actually,” I say. I did it for her while she was busy in here.
She looks to me. “What?”
“We did it earlier, remember?” I prompt her.
Now her anger is directed my way. She walks over as if she’s ready to hit me. “I don’t need you to do my work, Connor.” Her gloved hands shove at my chest.
“I know.” I smile. “But I did it anyway.”
She turns from me and walks back to her brother. She lifts her arms. “Take these off.”
Lorenzo undoes her gloves for her and then she storms right past me, not even looking my way.
“Can I kill him yet?” Lorenzo yells after her.
