Page 13 of His Deadly Devotion
My tongue darts out and licks him before I bite down.
“Ow, fuck.” He pulls his hand away, dropping his palms to my waist. Gripping me so tight it’s bruising. “I need you to come, Aurora. Now,” he says through gritted teeth.
I circle my hips, grinding down harder, my teeth sinking into my bottom lip as I come so hard I see stars. Mid-orgasm, Connor throws me off him and then he’s on top of me, straddling my waist with his cock in his hands, pumping it until he’s spilling himself all over my stomach.
I smile up at him. “Well, that was fun.”
“Fun? No, fun is a theme park, princess. That was fucking fantastic.” He climbs off the bed, and I get a glimpse of his back. The bandage covering his wound isn’t white anymore. It’s red.
“You’re bleeding. Shit, we need to be more careful.” I stand, wrapping the sheet around myself, and open the first door. I find an adjoining bathroom. It’s small but we can both fit inside. It’s not as if I don’t want to be close to him. “I actually don’t like seeing you hurt,” I tell him.
Connor smiles. “That’s because youloooveme.” He draws a heart over his chest.
“I can change my mind about that.” I scowl at him.
“Nope. If you could, you would have already.” His arms circle around me and he pulls me against his chest. “I’m not hurt. I’m fine.”
After getting cleaned up and replacing his bandage—thankfully none of his stitches were actually out—Connor tugged me back onto the bed.
Lying here, facing him now, I’m afraid to close my eyes. No matter how tired I am.
“We should sleep,” he tells me.
“You should see a head doctor when we get to Melbourne. You were out cold for ages, Connor, and the doc who sewed you up said your body was just in shock. What if it’s not that?” I ask him.
“I’m fine. Trust me. Nothing is keeping me from you.”
“Promise me if we go to sleep right now, you’re going to wake up.” I’m so fucking terrified of losing him. “When I thought you were… When you were shot and you weren’t moving, I thought you were dead. I didn’t move because I wanted them to find me. I wanted to be dead with you.”
“I need you to promise me something, princess,” Connor says.
“What?”
“If I die, I want you to promise that you will fight to continue living for both of us. If I die, I want you to do whatever it is you have to do to find happiness again. I don’t want you to die with me. I want you to live.”
I blink at him. “I can’t make promises I’m not sure I can keep,” I whisper.
Connor kisses the middle of my forehead. “Let’s sleep on it,” he says, and then his eyes close.

I’ve never been to Australia. Whenever we’ve left the States, it’s been to go to Ireland. I wasn’t prepared for the heat that slams me right in my face the moment we step out of the plane and onto the stairs. Although the humidity and sun beating down on me has nothing on the glare I can feel coming off Aurora’s brother.
I lean into her ear from behind her and whisper, “I think this one might actually like me.”
Aurora laughs, really fucking laughs. The sound forces a genuine smile onto my face, which I school as soon as we reach the bottom step. Aurora jumps down and runs at her brother, jumping on him. I watch as he catches her and spins her around.
It’s irrational to be jealous, but I fucking am. I want to be the only guy she runs at like that. Also, he’s been holding her for way too fucking long. I stop behind them and wait. And wait and fucking wait for Aurora to pull away.
“Lorenzo, this is Connor. Connor, Lorenzo.” She waves a hand between us.
Her brother goes back to giving me the death glare. I have no doubt he’s picturing just how he’s going to kill me. I bet it’s gruesome and bloody too.
“Lorenzo, be nice,” she warns.
“Nice? Really, Aurora? You bring a fucking boy to my house and you want me to be nice? Do I need to remind you why you’re even here? Because his family is trying to fucking kill you!” Lorenzo directs his wrath his sister’s way.
I’m about to say something but Aurora beats me to it. “That is not Connor’s fault. And I don’t need to be in your house. I’m sure I can find somewhere else to stay. If you’re going to be an ass, I will.”
