“Nope. He’s mine, I licked him,” Theo announces. His confidence is Meyer thick. I think I have to take either blame or credit for that one.
“I licked him well before you did, pal.” Tossing the dishtowel over my shoulder, I walk over to re-stake my claim before I lose it. I yank Jack off the floor and pull him into a kiss that’s bound to gross them all out.
“Ewww! Kissing’s gross,” Theo says.
“Kissing’s gross, but you licked him just fine?” I say as a question.
“That’s different.” He storms off disgusted.
“I’m with him. If you two are gonna do that, I’m watching TV upstairs,” Bethany says.
Good. I’m glad neither of them likes kissing. Makes my life easier. Lorelei, I’m worried about. She’s still watching us. “Can I have a kiss too, Jack?”
“Sure. C’mere.” He leans down and kisses her forehead and she places a reverent hand over the area and giggles. Good lord.
“Nuh-uh. No hockey players for you. Get upstairs and watch TV with your sister.”
She skips off up the stairs and I’m left with Jack who’s looking at me funny. “What?”
“We just grossed out children with our revolting affection.”
“And?”
“Nothing. C’mere. It’s your turn.” He attacks my lips.
I respond in kind with bruising lust. I want him so damn bad. It’s been three fucking days since I’ve had my cock in him and that’s three days too long.
His ribcage shakes with laughter as he laughs into my mouth.
“What?”
“That what Meyers do? Lick their property?”
I slam him against the wall. Cocky little shit. “We sure fucking do.” I lick his neck with my wet tongue for good measure and suck a sizable hickey there as proof of purchase.

After hour four of Bea and Trish waiting in the Emergency, I get a text informing me they haven’t even been seen by a doctor yet. In fact, they’re still in the waiting area. A very full waiting area and it’s safe to say they’ll be there for hours still. I resign myself to keeping the children overnight and then I get a call from Bryce.
“I’m coming to get the kids.”
Just like that he says it. No asking me or anything. “Say that again?”
“Got off work and on my way there.” He hangs up.
What the hell? I try to call him back, but he doesn’t answer. I text him several times not to come, but the knock at my door announces his arrival anyway. He walks in without being invited. All my siblings have keys, and his knock was just politeness.
“What the hell, Merc? I told you to have them ready. I want to get them to bed,” is the greeting I get from him when he sees that three little Meyers aren’t in their boots and coats by the door.
“‘What the hell’ is my line. You don’t need to take them. You just got off work—take the night off.”
He shakes his head. “I knew you’d be like this. Aren’t I an equal now?”
Jack’s upstairs watching TV with them. I thought I was coming down here to get rid of Bryce and then rejoin them. “You never weren’t an equal.”
“You know what I mean. You made me a Meyer elder and sometimes that means minding children after work when you’re a bit knackered.”
“I think you’re taking that title a little too seriously.”
