EPILOGUE
ASA
Six Months Later
“What are you doing out here by yourself?” I walk out onto the back deck that’s now done, along with the grass and plants Montana was adamant about putting in by herself instead of letting the landscapers do it when they laid the sod.
Something about wanting to be one with the plants.
I don’t know which one is more a free spirit—my woman or my sister. No wonder they’re the best of friends.
“I couldn’t sleep. There was no reason to toss and turn, waking you up in the process.” She’s sitting on the outdoor couch we purchased months ago. It has two chairs that swivel, along with two end tables and a coffee table. It cost a lot, more than I would have spent if it were just for myself.
“There a reason you couldn’t sleep?” I ask her as I sit down next to her, making sure not to jostle her too much since she has a cup of coffee in her hand.
Truth be told, she should have slept like a rock.
Especially after last night, a night that started off at home, with Montana shocking the shit out of me by cooking dinner for us, though that wasn’t the surprise; it was what she was wearing—a barely-there dress with a plunging neckline, the same as the back.
The minx had a hands-off approach, too, barely letting me kiss her, knowing what would happen.
That was okay, because it was the teasing of my fingers that had her ready to throw in the towel during our dinner.
We found this up-and-coming speakeasy, one of the first in our small town.
The atmosphere was old world, like from the roaring twenties and thirties, somehow combining the two.
What sold her, though, was the library you had to walk through, getting your pass similar to that of a library card, and the décor.
My girl definitely loved it—the drinks, the music, the subtle sway of her hips when we took to the dance floor, it was our own version of foreplay.
Especially when I spun her around, Montana backing her ass up into my dick, my fingers gliding down the slope of her sternum, and the purr that left her throat.
It was time for us to go. Not that we made it home or even to my truck before I was sliding inside her.
The alley in the back of the Lourdes Speakeasy had a small alcove, which was where her back was pressed into the brick wall, her dress hiked up, my pants unbuttoned and unzipped, my cock out.
Her pussy was wet, begging for what only I could give her.
I was deep inside with one thrust, the velvety softness of her cunt gripping me.
It wasn’t long until both of us were sweaty and breathless.
Keeping her from moaning so loudly we’d be caught wasn’t an easy task, but we did it, barely.
“Overly happy? Our life is amazing? I’m on sensation overload?” There isn’t an ounce of sleepiness in her bright green eyes. Little does she know I’m about to make things go a little bit overboard.
“Definitely. I take it you liked last night?” It’s been six months since she officially moved in. That’s also when I almost lost the greatest person in my life. Needless to say, if we have an argument, which tends to happen from time to time, I’m careful of the words I use.
“More than liked it. We can go back, right? That wasn’t a one-off night.” I could have sworn she saw me hand the clerk our money to become members, but maybe she wasn’t paying attention at the time.
“Babe, you saw the cards. We have a year membership, though I can’t say it’d be something we’d do every Friday or Saturday night.
The place was the shit, even I can admit that, and the aftereffects were worth it even more.
” I take the cup of coffee out of her hand, placing it on the table beside her before laying us down, me on my back, taking Montana with me.
“Yay, see? Happiness galore.” She places her hands on my chest, one on top of the other, placing her chin on top, making it hard to do what I want in this situation, but I’ll figure something out.
“Babe, I’m always going to try my hardest to make you happy, and if going to a club every now and then does it, so be it. Plus, we both reap the rewards when you have a few drinks.” I lick my lips, Montana’s eyes following my tongue as I do it.
“Asa.” She squirms against my body.
“I’ve got a question to ask you before you even think about climbing my body, babe.
” My hands that were at her sides after we settled in glide up her back, one hand staying at the base of her back, kneading it, unable to keep my hands off her.
The other tangles in her hair, holding her so she can watch me.
“What’s that? You didn’t buy something ridiculous again, did you?
” The last time I came home with something she got pissed off at me for was a television for our bedroom.
There wasn’t one in there, and I figured it’d be a good idea to fall asleep watching it.
Boy, was I wrong. It probably didn’t help that it was almost as big as the one in the living room.
I took it back, bought a smaller one, and it’s now set up out here.
“Are you telling me or asking you to marry me is ridiculous?” This probably isn’t the smoothest way or even best way to ask the woman you love to spend the rest of your life with, but it’s who I am.
“Asa.” Her eyes close, head falling forward, sobs racking her body. I maneuver us quickly without jostling her in the process.
“Montana, babe.” I move her hand that’s covering her face, placing my ring on her finger.
“Yes, Asa, without a doubt yes,” she says through tears and a smile on her face.
“I love you, Montana Rose.” The urgency to kiss her consumes me.
I don’t worry about her returning the words as our mouths collide, and I know I’ll be making love to my future wife in a matter of minutes, especially with the way she has her leg on top of my hip, arching into my body.
It may have sucked waking up alone in our bed, but I think this morning will more than make up for it.
