I cut him off, “It’s too late for that. Hades knows about them and Kai is expected to deliver.

He won’t fail. He will continue to chase them until he fulfills his mission.

And if he doesn’t, Hades is a clever god.

He will uncover any piece of knowledge to find them again.

” I close my eyes, pinching the bridge of my nose.

Daemyn understands what I mean, we’re collateral damage now.

If I take these girls to safety, Kai reports back and Hades will make it known right away.

He doesn’t even have to tell Zeus. He wouldn’t.

What he would do is use my betrayal of the King of Gods to either force me to deliver these girls, or worse, I would owe a favor to the Underworld. There is no walking away .

Daemyn turns away with his nose flaring as he breathes in deep, his teeth grinding with tension. Again, it’s not the answer he wants, and neither do I. We’re stuck in the middle, without any option other than to watch this mess unfold.

“Fuck man, they’re getting close.” He nudges me even though my attention hasn’t faltered.

The girls’ giggles are innocent as they stand in front of the temple.

A few steps forward and everything changes.

Although a couple of steps too far back and it will as well.

Kai is placed and ready, it’s just a matter of time.

My fingers twitch and I stand when suddenly the redhead jerks Nora back, pointing her thumb over her shoulder asking, “Chocolate, like always? Or maybe you’re ready to travel on the wild side?”

“Chocolate. Always chocolate!” Nora shrugs.

The redhead gives her a quick wink before walking away, separating the two of them.

Shit!

She’s walking straight toward Kai. His smirk is coming to life, watching his prey, as he mutters something to his guard.

“No!” Daemyn hisses, taking another step forward, reaching the final edge of Zeus’ boundary. One move and she’s in the ritual ground, calling all the gods in Olympus towards her.

“Excuse me, do you know the time?” I blurt out, brushing my hand against her shoulder.

I didn’t think, I just reacted, using my speed to reach her. I can’t say I regret finding out how wrong Daemyn was. Her eyes are not baby blue at all. They are light, like the sky, shining with an intense glow as her cheeks grow pink.

Her mouth pops open as she shakes her head slightly.

“Sorry, yes,” she finally says with a small swallow as she pulls on her purse slightly, stumbling back.

“Hold on, my phone–” her words are cut off as my arms dart forward, grabbing her.

One arm wraps around her waist and the other reaches up, covering her screams with my hand.

I run, pulling the girl trapped in my arms off into the trees, wasting no time. Daemyn is right behind us following my lead and I pull on my energy, opening a portal, yelling at Daemyn over my shoulders, “Hurry, it’s open!” Without hesitation, I jump through with Nora in my hold.

She’s shaking, pushing her body away from me with all the strength she has. My grip tightens as I feel the vibrations of her scream against my hand. We’re in the middle of Daemyn’s living room, truly fucked.

“That’s your idea of not being able to do anything? You took a girl!” he yells, his voice lined with shock. Welcome to the club! I wasn’t exactly thinking!

“Shit! What do we do?” I ask through clenched teeth, knowing it’s a stupid question.

I’m holding a girl in the middle of Olympus, surrounded by gods desperate to find her.

This is a shit storm of a disaster. Of course, Nora picks this time to wiggle her ass against me, pushing it back and grinding hard against me as she keeps trying to get away.

Wrong time. Wrong place. But my dick springs to life anyway.

I drop my hands from her body, holding them up wide while taking a few steps back. I know I kidnapped her, but I don’t need her getting the wrong idea of why.

She wastes no time, lunging forward towards the coffee table and picking up a book before spinning around to face us.

“Fuck!” I mutter, feeling the sting of the book colliding with my forehead.

“Damn, Baby Girl, you got aim.” Daemyn laughs and her arms swing again, throwing a book right at his junk, dropping him to his knees. It’s the distraction she needs. She takes flight, running out of the living room and straight into the kitchen.

“Get up. I’ll need you to calm her ass down,” I order him and follow, despite knowing it will scare her more. Who knows what the fuck could happen next if she reaches that door.

I’ll be damned. She doesn’t even try the back door.

Instead, she grabs a knife and turns, aiming it towards me.

Those light blue eyes are holding a gaze fueled with fury as she stares me down and I hold up my palms again, surrendering.

“I promise I won’t hurt you. If you put it down, I’ll explain,” I say, lowering my head to make our eyes meet.

Her eyes squint for a split second, but whatever she saw, she didn’t like it, and she slashes forward, slicing my arm open and screaming, “Fuck you!”

The cut went deep and the pain hits as quickly as her blade, causing me to stumble back. She takes advantage, pushing past me and heading back towards the living room, prepared to take on her next victim. I’ll give her credit, she’s got some fight in her.

I groan, chasing after her, but Daemyn was quickly back on his feet, grabbing her by the waist and pulling her back towards his chest. His hand skims down her arm, landing on her wrist, before twisting it just enough, the pressure forcing her to drop the blade.

Without wasting time, he kicks the blade toward me and I bend, picking it up to secure the knife in the back of my jeans.

Tucking it far away from anywhere she would touch.

“Please don’t hurt me! Please!” Nora’s screams turn into sobs, with tears running down her face. She’s trembling in fear and Daemyn’s eyes bounce to me, waiting for orders. No idea why. He’s the logical one. I have no idea how to stop this and I stare at him, waiting.

Something clicks and he nods towards me before he gently says, “Nora, look at his arm. Right where you cut it.” I smile, knowing what he has in mind and lift my arm, inching closer. She flinches in response.

I hold up my arm, showing her the gash she delivered.

She sunk the knife straight into my forearm, right above the snake design inked into my skin.

The blood is drying as the skin stitches back together.

As she watches, her skin turns completely pale, her face draining of blood, and her eyes widen, seeing my skin repair itself.

On impulse, I inch forward, placing my hand against her cheek with a need to comfort her. “Look—”

“Get off of me!” she cuts me off, attempting to twist out of Daemyn’s hold, surprising the crap out of us as she fights against his power. If he can’t calm her then what the fuck can we do?

“Okay, I’ll move away,” I say, stepping around them and making sure my back is towards the front door, positioning myself while creating a distance between us. “But I need you to listen to me. You’re in danger.”

Nora ignores my words, putting all her effort into wrestling against Daemyn’s grasp.

He holds her tiny frame and then easily lifts her, turning around to face my direction.

He’s mimicking my action, becoming a barrier between her and the kitchen door.

Softly he says, “I’m going to let go now, but I need you to listen.

We had to protect you. Your life and Adriane’s are in danger. ”

Nora‘s face somehow grows worse, turning a deadly white, and all fight leaves her. I keep my gaze on her as I nod, telling Daemyn to loosen his hold. He steps back with caution, keeping watch as she looks between us. She stumbles forward, her eyes widening, recognizing that she’s caged.

She’s terrified for good reason, and unaware that we are keeping her safe.

By the gods, let’s hope we can keep her that way.
