Marcus

“What the fuck is wrong with you?” I snap at Bellamy, tossing my phone on my desk.

Teller Security is on the floor below Vanderbilt, and CyberSafe is below that.

I fucking hate that I have to share a building with her, but maybe it’s for the best. I can keep a closer eye on her.

I think what pisses me off more is that she is so fucking gorgeous, and the fact that she stood her ground and had no qualms about going toe-to-toe with me is sexy on a whole different level.

“Me? What the fuck is wrong with you? Why are you being such a dick to her? You don’t even know her,” Bellamy says.

“Why is she being so goddamn secretive about who she is and how she knows him? All she has to do is open her fucking mouth, and if it is nothing nefarious, then so be it,” I retort.

“Look, I know Alan meant a lot to you. I do. But you know just as well as I do that he hid a large part of his life. I’m willing to bet your father knows, which means that if she is here, your dad approves of her.”

“Where is he then? Hmm? He ran the first chance he got,” I say.

“Call him,” Bellamy says with a sigh.

“Fine,” I say, picking up my phone. I walk around and sit as I call. On the third ring, he picks up, and I place the call on speakerphone.

“Hey, Son. How are—”

“Who the fuck is she?” I bark.

“Marcus,” Dad sighs.

“No. Who is Kendra? Why did she just get everything, and Archer gets nothing? His own fucking son, Dad.”

“If she hasn’t told you, then she doesn’t want anyone to know yet,” Dad says simply.

“He’s being a dick,” Bellamy says. “He called her a whore and made a comment about Alan likely fucking her over his desk, and she hit him.”

“Jesus, Marcus,” Dad says with a sigh. “She wasn't a partner or anything of the sort. Okay? She’s not a gold digger, Marcus.”

“Then who…”

“Why does it matter?” Dad asks.

“Because she owns thirty fucking percent!” I yell.

“Look, I’m not telling you. Julie won’t. Jesse won’t. Keep being an ass, and she probably won’t either. Just chill out and give her time,” Dad says.

“Fine. Thanks,” I say.

“Marcus, please don’t be like that,” Dad says, but I end the call.

“He knows,” I say. “He knows, and he won’t tell me.”

“You are obsessed, Marcus,” Bellamy says.

“Archer deserved that company. Not her,” I declare. “I’m going to make damn sure it goes to who it belongs to.”

“Well, you won’t have my support,” Bellamy says. “Call a board meeting if you are so concerned.”

“Alright,” I say. “I will, and they will make sure she speaks up.”

Bellamy rolls his eyes before leaving my office, and I sit back to think about what’s happened. Why can’t she just say how she knows him? On a whim, I pick my phone up again and call Archer.

“Hello?” he answers with a sigh.

“Hey, man. How are you holding up?”

“Like shit. The bitch stole everything from me,” he says.

“Who was she to him?” I ask.

“Just a bitch who told a bunch of lies. He disowned me, and now she owns everything. She manipulated him for years.”

“Well, if you decide to take her to court, you have my support,” I say.
