A few seconds after the door shut, Keira couldn’t stifle the giggle that erupted from her throat. Amelia caught her gaze and smiled, then joined in her laughter. Even after their laughter died down, they grinned at each other, until Amelia shivered.

“We should probably shower,” Amelia said, voice matter-of-fact, retrieving her bag from where she dropped it near the door and bringing it back to the bench. She unpacked her clothes, towel, pouffe, and shampoo.

A shudder ran through Keira, and not just from the removal of her source of warmth. Her brain whirred, kicking up several gears in rapid succession. Was that it?Would Amelia discard her, having got what she wanted? Was this going to affect the team, was—

“Are you coming?”

When Keira focused, Amelia stood in front of her, holding out her hand. Keira’s mind slowed back down. Wordlessly, she took Amelia’s hand and allowed herself to be led to the showers.

Amelia hung her towel up on a hook inside the shower cubicle and started the shower. She jumped out of the way of the initial cold spray and occasionally stuck her hand in to check the temperature. When Keira saw steam, Amelia took Keira’s hand and pulled them both underneath the water, the heat welcome on Keira’s chilled skin. Amelia wrapped her arms around Keira’s waist and smiled up at her.

Their slippery, naked bodies pressed together, water droplets traced their contours. Amelia kissed her gently under the spray. The lust from before had dissipated, replaced with a gentle sweetness that cocooned Keira’s heart.

Amelia put soap on her pouffe and created a lather, and wordlessly washed Keira, tenderly tracing up and down her arms, across her chest, and around her waist. The silence was only broken when Amelia ran the textured material over Keira’s thigh, making her jolt.

“Sorry, still sensitive,” Keira said sheepishly. Amelia grinned.

Once Amelia finished cleaning Keira, Keira took the pouffe from her and repeated the process on Amelia, turning her around so she was able to clean her lithely muscled back. The soap suds lazily trailed down her back and over the globes of her ass. Stepping forwards, Keira wrapped her arms around Amelia’s waist and spooned her, tracing her wet bare skin with her fingertips.

“All done,” she whispered in her ear. Their warm, wet bodies pressed together, was heaven. If she could have stayed there forever, she would have, but they only had twenty minutes.

The pair washed their hair and got out of the shower, dried themselves, and got redressed in a comfortable silence. Keira didn’t think she’d ever been this relaxed around another person, especially after sex.

When they exited the changing rooms, Keira had to resist the urge to take Amelia’s hand. Somehow, walking down the hallway hand in hand felt more intimate than what they’d just done. The security guard wasn’t far behind them, turning off the lights and checking the internal doors. Keira couldn’t look at him. Had he known what they’d been doing? They weren’t exactly quiet.

Keira shivered as they stepped outside into the cold, the cool air biting at her still wet hair. The door satisfyingly clanked shut, and the two of them walked slowly towards the car park.

She didn’t want this night to be over. She worried that leaving would break the spell, and they’d return to how they were before. Close, but distant. In reach, but out of bounds. Amelia was dawdling, too, and Keira wondered if it was for the same reason. Or, perhaps she was working out how to let her down gently, how to tell her it couldn’t happen again.

Only their cars remained in the car park. They both instinctively paused when they reached the midpoint between them.

“I was–”

“Would you–” They both started, before laughing.

“You first,” Keira said.

“Would you like to come back to mine for a coffee? Or some food?”

Keira’s face broke out into a grin.

“Can’t get enough of me, hey?” she asked, trying to hide how glad she was Amelia asked. Amelia blushed shyly. “Yes, I’d love to. I’ll follow you?” she said, gesturing towards her car.

“I’ll text you my address as well, just in case,” Amelia said, before stepping forward and kissing Keira gently on the cheek.

Keira quickly messaged her dad to say she was finally going out and doing a ‘club crawl’ as he’d told her. She might be back late, so she’d see him in the morning.

Amelia

Amelia unlocked her front door while Keira waited behind her. She kicked herself for not tidying up before the game today. She hadn’t exactly expected to bring anyone over. Stepping inside, she flicked on the hallway light and put the keys on a hook near the door. She kicked her shoes off like she normally did, but carefully placed them in the black metal shoe rack rather than just leave them scattered on the floor like she normally might. Keira removed her shoes before she walked into the living room.

“Nice place,” Keira said, tone approving.

“Yeah, I like it. I’m sorry it’s such a mess right now.” Amelia apologised, as heat filled her cheeks.

“You call this a mess?” Keira asked. Amelia looked around, taking in the space in front of her.

Her cream-coloured sofas set off the dark brown of the wooden furniture. Amelia turned on the small electric fireplace was set in the longest wall. A television was mounted above it. The windows had rich green curtains and a green carpet matched it on the floor. When decorating, she had deliberately created an antithesis to the hospitals where she spent so much time; she’d wanted warm, soft, and cosy, not sharp, clinical lines. The hallway mirror had a wooden frame, the light switches were bronze plated, and the light fittings were gold. A painting of a vase of roses hung in one of the alcoves.
