Page 41 of Full Court Crush
She tried to clear the static from her brain, but as soon as she spun to face the basket, her mind went blank once more. Keira smirked. Amelia used her cockiness as her opportunity to dance around her, dribbling the ball just out of arm’s reach. She worked her way closer and closer to the basket until she was able to leap up in the air to send the ball soaring towards the backboard. Keira jumped to try to intercept it, but mistimed it, and there was an audible thud as their bodies collided. They fell to the floor in a tangle of limbs. Amelia ended up nearly flat on her back, having managed to brace the worst of her fall. Keira had just about managed to land on her feet and tried to stay upright, but lost the battle with gravity, losing her balance and falling towards Amelia. Amelia closed her eyes and braced for impact, but it never came.
When she cracked her eyes open, Keira hovered above her, hands either side of her shoulders, that smirk still on her face. The ball had fallen through the net and rolled away, but neither of them seemed to care.
Amelia’s gaze flicked around Keira’s face as her body pulsed. Mere inches lay between them. Amelia looked longingly at Keira’s tantalising lips, and the static in her brain suddenly filled her whole body. Just as she was about to part her lips for the kiss, Keira pushed herself off the floor and back to a standing position, walking away without even offering Amelia a hand up.
“I should get going,” Keira tossed back over her shoulder, voice gruff. Amelia lifted herself to her elbows, turned her head and watched Keira gather her stuff and walk out of the sports hall. The doors quickly shut behind her.
Amelia blinked.
What the hell was that?
A few moments later, she got up and gathered her things. Taking a long sip of her drink, she walked towards the changing rooms. She couldn’t hear any noise coming from within, so she assumed Keira had just gone straight home. She sighed as she pushed the door open and walked inside. Her head was still spinning from…whatever that was. had Keira been about to kiss her? Had Amelia wanted her to?
Like that's even a question.
Of course she had. Because, despite her best efforts, she hadn't managed to quell her burning attraction toward her teammate. Their one-on-one session had only added fuel to the fire.
Rounding the corner, she came face to face with Keira, and it felt like her heart stopped. She stood in her basketball shorts and sports bra, holding a t-shirt in her hand. Amelia was unable to help her gaze raking down Keira’s body. Her basketball shorts sat low on her hips, just below the band of her black boxers, the drawstring tied neatly in a bow. Her bare skin glistened. Amelia sucked in a breath.
“You can’t look at me like that.” Keira quickly threw the t-shirt on, her quiet words breaking Amelia out of her daze. Amelia's cheeks burned with embarrassment, suddenly becoming aware of what she was doing, and where she was doing it.
“I’m so sorry, I, I’ll just—” Amelia turned to leave in a panic.
“You can’t look at me like that,” Keira said again, breathing heavily, stopping Amelia in her tracks. “If you’re not going to do something about it.”
Amelia's pulse pounded in her ears. Keira folded her arms across her chest in clear challenge, highlighting the toned contours of her arms. Amelia felt like all the air had been sucked out of the room. She blinked, and forced her gaze back to meet Keira's, whose eyes were ablaze.
Keira took a step toward her.
“Are you going to do something about it?” Keira whispered. Amelia swallowed, her mouth suddenly dry. She wasn’t sure she could speak even had she wanted to.
Keira took another step forward and smirked.
“I—you—we can’t — ” Amelia rasped out and took a step back, pressing her back up against the wall. They’d danced around their feelings for so long, she had no idea what to do with such direct confrontation.
“I know. You’ve said that,” Keira said calmly, now just outside of arm’s reach. “But…” Keira paused, biting her lip. “What if we did it anyway?” She was speaking in barely a whisper. “What if you weren’t perfect for once? What if—” Keira paused again, her gaze slowly roaming up and down Amelia’s body. Amelia felt like her skin was on fire with desire. Keira smirked. “What if we give you what you so clearly need? What ifthat’smore important than being perfect all the time?”
Amelia flushed hot and her heart pounded in her chest. She’d thought about it. God, had she thought about it. She’d lain awake at night, unable to sleep, picturing the things she would do to Keira, or that Keira would do to her. Her throat felt so dry.
“I—I mean—we—you could have kissed me! Earlier, out there, or on the Ferris wheel, but you didn’t! How could I know you felt like I did! You gave no indication!”
Amelia winced as her voice got higher and higher pitched with each sentence. Keira chuckled. The deep, throaty laugh sent shivers down Amelia’s spine.
“No indication? There is no way you don’t know what you do to me,” Keira said. “The simplest touch from you scrambles my brain. Sometimes you look at me andI can’t breathe.”
She took a step forward, almost completely closing the gap between them. Her eyes were dark with lust as she placed her left hand on the wall beside Amelia’s head. She gently stroked down Amelia’s cheek with her right. Amelia shivered.
“And as for kissing you?” Keira whispered, placing her right hand on Amelia’s side. The rest of the world fell silent. Amelia shuddered as she tried to take a deep breath. “I’ve wanted nothing more, for weeks now.” Keira sighed. “But ithasto be you. It’s your boundary. Youhaveto be the one to break it.”
Keira gazed into Amelia’s eyes and slowly ran the tip of her tongue over her lips.
“And if you don’t want to, I respect that,” Keira said, backing off slightly, “but it meansyou can’t look at me like that. Not anymore. It would be cruel. Because I am so,ridiculouslyattracted to you, Amelia.”
Amelia thought her heart might jump out of her chest. Goosebumps covered her body as she tried to string together two coherent words, but Keira’s presence made that impossible. She tried to remember all the reasons why this was a terrible idea, but her mind went blank. All she could think about was the glistening of Keira’s lips, and what it would be like to touch them. What they would taste like. What it would be like to have those lips on her nipples, or between her legs.
Finally, for once in her life, Amelia stopped thinking. She fisted Keira’s t-shirt in her hand and pulled her forward. When their lips finally came crashing together, everything clicked into place. She was finally able to take a drink after days in the desert as stars exploded behind her eyelids. Keira’s lips were soft but authoritative, and Amelia’s centre throbbed with lust. She fought Keira for dominance of the kiss, taking Keira’s bottom lip and biting it gently. Keira’s moan reverberated inside her own mouth. She couldn’t think. She could only exist in this moment.
