Nyx looks up, her gaze softening. “The best.”
“Tag’s going to offer you a job,” I tell her. “A permanent position working cybersecurity for the family.”
Her hands pause over her keyboard. “Finn, we talked about this.”
“I know, but I’m just saying you have options.”
She’s quiet for a moment, her expression unreadable. “And Gio?”
“We can set him up somewhere safe. Maybe a retreat or somewhere he can work through what happened. Hell, I’ll hire him a personal trauma companion to help him. It doesn’t have to be you. Honestly, it’s probably better for him if it isn’t you and it’s a licensed therapist.”
Nyx turns back to her screen, but not before I catch the glimmer of tears in her eyes. “Let’s finish this first. One thing at a time.”
We complete our cleanup in silence. By the time we’re done, it’s as if it never happened.
The perfect crime.
“All clear on my end,” Nyx announces, closing her laptop.
“Same.” I shut down the last monitor and the room plunges into relative darkness, illuminated only by the soft glow of my desk lamp.
In this gentler light, Nyx looks tired but beautiful. The weight of everything she’s been through—and we’ve accomplished—shows in the slight slump of her shoulders, but there’s strength there too. Resilience.
“What happens now?” she asks.
“Now, we celebrate.” I offer her my hand and when she takes it, I pull her against my chest and kiss her with everything I’ve got…
My hope. My fear. My passion. My love.
When we break apart, she rests her forehead against mine. “You’re making this harder, Finn.”
“Good. I want to make it impossible. I want you to see that togetherwecan help Gio.Wecan meet all his needs and get him back on his feet.”
She sighs. “And you’ll still be Finn Quinn. Dublin Charmer. Heir to a crime family. Target of danger.”
I want to argue but she’s right. No matter what I do, I’ll always be me. I’ll never turn my back on my family, so even if I leave Dublin to be with her, I’ll still be tied to what’s going on here.
There is simply no easy solution.
With no answers, we gather ourselves and head downstairs to await the return of my brother. At the very least, we can celebrate the death of Billy Gravely.
That’s a big win for all of us. The war between north and south Dublin is over and now the landscape of power is shifting.
And thankfully, the Quinns are on top.
CHAPTER THIRTY
Nyx
Istare up at the ceiling in Finn’s room, memorizing every crack and shadow. The compound is quiet now, the celebration of Gravely’s death having gone into the wee hours and everyone spending a lazy morning sleeping in. Except for Tag and Laine, of course. The baby had a rough night, and no one is sleeping in their suite.
Finn’s breathing is steady beside me, his arm draped possessively across my waist even in sleep.
This is it… the last hours.
The thought of leaving makes my chest ache, but Gio needs me. He’s been through hell, and while Finn’s offer to get him professional help is tempting, I know my brother. He won’t open up to strangers.
He needs family. And I’m the only family he’s got.
