“Ye feel so fucking good,” he murmurs, his voice rough.
“So do you,” I gasp. “So good.”
His hips roll and thrust, and I feel every inch of him. I lock my ankles at the small of his back, rocking with his rhythm syncing, everything between us lighting me up.
His hands are everywhere, caressing, teasing, driving me wild.
I’m close, so close. And he knows it. Looking down at me, he waggles his brows and then he’s hammering into me like he’s possessed.
And I’m gone. I close my eyes, and my breath catches in my throat. Wave after wave of pleasure crashes over me and I come apart.
He follows me over the edge, his hips locking as he throws his head back and finds his own release. The sound that rips from his throat is primal and raw… the look on his handsome face a tortured pleasure.
When the ebbing pulses of my orgasm fade and he’s well and truly spent, he collapses on top of me. Our bodies are damp with sweat, our breathing coming in ragged gasps.
I close my eyes and feel his heart pounding against mine.
We lie there together, our bodies entwined, the high of our joining settling back down to reality. He rolls off me, tucking me against his side as his arm drapes across my chest and pulls me close.
He strokes my cheek, his fingers gentle, his touch tender. “I love you, Emilia Farina. I think I fell in love with you from that first kiss on the dance floor. We’d been teasing one another for more than a week with our hacking, but when I saw you in that dress and you fell into my lap, I was a goner.”
His words move me, touch me, fill me with a warmth that spreads from my chest, through my body, down to my toes. I love him, too. I’ve known it for a while now.
But how can I tell him that and then leave with Gio? As soon as Gravely is taken down, I have to choose, and it’s no choice at all.
Finn has a family to love him and a life to lead. Gio only has me.
So I say nothing, my heart aching, my mind racing, my body pressed against his. I close my eyes, savoring this moment, thefeeling of being loved. Because I know it can’t last. I know I must leave.
But for now, for this moment, I’m here: in Finn’s arms, in Finn’s bed, in Finn’s heart. And that’s enough.
It has to be.
CHAPTER TWENTY-EIGHT
Finn
Istride down the stairs and key in the passcode to release the security door to access the basement. The digits are entered, the light flashes green, and then I’m down the stairs and heading into the war room. My brothers are already there and look up as I enter and set my laptop on the long wooden table.
Tag is the first to speak. He leans back in his chair, coffee in hand. “What’s the emergency, Finny? It’s take your baby home from the hospital day. I’d rather be upstairs.”
“Same, same.” Bryan chuckles and by the way his hair is tousled, there’s no question that I interrupted him and Harper.
“It’s not an emergency. It’s just important.” I tap my tablet, avoiding his gaze.
Brenny is leaning forward, watching me and I don’t like it. “What else is going on, little bro?”
“Nyx handed us the Holy Grail of intel reports. I’ve spent the last hour looking through the folders and I thought you’d want to jump on this. We’ve got Gravely by the short and curlies.”
Sean presses both his scarred hands flat on the table and leans into my field of vision. “No one’s going to enjoy ripping that fucker to shreds more than me, Finn, but Brenny’s right. There’s something going on with you.”
I wave it away. “You’ll only laugh and make me feel stupid.”
Tag sets his coffee cup down and sobers. “I know when we joked about you thinking Ginny was girlfriend material we rubbed you the wrong way. That wasn’t our intention. We just find it funny that she’s made the rounds. We’re sorry about that, aren’t we, brothers?”
Sean and the twins all nod, looking genuinely contrite.
“So, what is it?” Tag puts the question out there and waits, his voice calm, his gaze patient.
