Ronan let out a breath so loudly I thought he’d spoken.
“We don’t have to,” I said quickly, grabbing jeans and sweats from the dresser instead and putting them into the suitcase.
“I’d like to,” he said, reaching out and grabbing my wrist to still me. I looked down and found him focused on my face, his expression nearly imploring in its search for approval.
“Ronan.” I covered his hand with my own. “I know we’re working through a lot, but I want to be a better su…partner to you.”
He smirked. “That’s not the word you were going to say.”
“Submissive,” I admitted, cheeks heating. “I want to be better to you in all things. I don’t know why we’re taking an impromptu vacation right now, but I think it’ll be good for us to get away. I need a reset, and I think you do too.”
His nostrils flared and he tightened his grip on my wrist. “Didn’t I give you one of those a couple days ago?”
Ronan hauled me closer until I tumbled onto his lap, then in a quick motion, he grabbed my bruised ass in his hands, kneading the tender flesh until I grunted in pain.
“Yes, a little, but…” I squeezed my eyes closed. “I want more.”
“Greedy slut,” he murmured, digging his nails into my skin.
“I want you back. None of this weirdness,” I forced the words out. “We’ll talk about what Foster said on the drive and then, once we get there…just you and me. And your mouth.”
“You mean your mouth?” He spanked me with both hands, pushing me forward so I rocked over his growing erection.
“Yes, but…I like the way you talk to me.”
“Kevin.” Ronan’s expression faltered and he brought his hands around to my face, cradling my cheeks with an unexpected level of tenderness. Then he pinched, puckering my mouth like a fish. His fingers and thumb gouged hard into the skin of my cheeks and he tipped his chin up, spitting into my mouth. The saliva landed on my lip and dripped down my chin.
“Kevin,” he said again, “there’s no need to wait until we’re there to start. You go sort yourself out in the bathroom. I’ll deal with packing the toys.”
Chapter Fifteen
Ronan
Part of me wanted to tell Kevin why we had to get out of town and the other part of me knew better. Kevin would panic and analyze. He would assess and worry, and he didn’t need to do any of those things. He had me to worry for him, me to take care of him, and if he was serious about dedicating himself to being abettersubmissive partner, the situation with Foster was a good place for him to start.
But I couldn’t lie to him.
I couldn’t breach his trust when we’d been working so hard to move forward and evolve.
Unfortunately, there wasn’t much for me to share. Foster had called me in a panic and begged me to get out of town. He hadn’t said why and, foolishly, I hadn’t asked. I didn’t think he’d give me the real reason even if I had, but to be honest, I didn’t need one.
I wasn’t an idiot.
There was danger.
The insinuation was clear. My life...Kevin’s life…we were at risk.
I’d give Foster the weekend and then…I didn’t have an answer out of him, but it was near impossible for me to worry about two grown men at the same time. But Foster wasn’t my obligation or my responsibility. Kevin was, and I would focus on him. I worried that the past weeks had damaged my relationship with Foster beyond repair, but that was something to think about another day.
In front of the cabin Kevin rented, I cut the ignition to the car and stared up at the obscured wood building tucked behind the tree line.
“This place is nice,” I said.
Kevin smiled and reached over, patting my hand on the steering wheel.
“How do you feel about things?” he asked.
“I’m fine.” I gave him a smile. “Let’s get inside. I’ll get the bags; you go get naked.”
