Field agreed to take that tour Henry offered, only because he wanted to be shown the bedroom.
He saw the way he hurt Henry by rejecting him.
Sometimes, it took him a little longer than others to process positive personal situations.
He had been trained those didn’t exist and shouldn’t be trusted.
Once he navigated certain things, it didn’t take him long to accept and adjust. Unfortunately, Field screwed up a lot of potential friendships and whatnot just because he had to filter things through his brain in a different way.
He had to have time to use his therapy to work his way through what was real and what was tortured into him.
Life would always be harder for him. Not everyone could accept that, and he understood.
Even he was exhausted by him. It was kind of impossible to expect anyone to understand.
But when he had watched Henry fight to speak, he saw himself.
He watched Henry fight that battle of trying to see around the wall he had to live behind.
At no point could he be soft and survive this life.
For whatever reason, he wanted that with Field.
Field saw a lot of heartache in his future. Funnily enough, he still wanted to try.
Field purposely took his time inspecting Henry’s bedroom. He poked the bed. “I’m surprised by you. In no universe would I have pictured you having an unmade bed, Mr. Drill Sergeant.”
He loved when he made Henry smile the way he did now. “I don’t allow anyone to come here. Not even cleaning staff. The only time the bed gets made is when I wash the sheets. Otherwise, I don’t see the point.”
“Discipline or some bullshit like that. I don’t remember what they used to tell me.”
Henry sat on the bed and stayed completely focused on Field. “Your bed wasn’t made when I got there last night.”
Field went back to inspecting the room. Other than the unmade bed, the place was exactly what Field would have imagined.
“An act of rebellion.” He met Henry’s stare.
“I specifically asked for it to remain unmade, even after the sheets are washed. It doesn’t matter if I’m not the one doing it.
No one will get that satisfaction from me.
” Field shook his head and smiled. Sometimes, he got too intense and had to reel things in.
He didn’t want to be who they made him to be.
While Field would always be no more than a killer, he wouldn’t be a robot.
He set one knee on the bed and toppled Henry before straddling him. “We started something earlier that I ruined.”
Henry easily pulled a move that had Field trapped beneath him. That was the thing about the guy that had caught Field. The first time they met, Field was beneath the guy’s boot before he knew what happened. He liked to be controlled under certain circumstances.
“Do you plan to beg me to stop again?” Henry bit Field’s bottom lip before he could answer.
Field was afraid it would be the opposite.
He would beg for Henry to never stop. Field snagged the hem of Henry’s shirt and dragged it over his head before tossing it aside.
Every time they parted to lose another article of clothing, their lips were right back to finding each other.
Seriously, no one had ever gotten Field as hot.
Not that he’d had an easy time letting anyone touch him since breaking free.
His flirtatious nature was a facade. He needed what Henry offered.
“I want to suck your dick. If you won’t let me just do that, you’ll suck mine at the same time.”
“Yes.” God, he heard the way he sounded like a desperate whore, but he wanted that.
Last time, Henry had been angry. Field wanted to do this with Henry’s focus on him.
In no time, Henry basically sat on his face with Field’s dick in his mouth.
It was a lot harder to concentrate than he expected.
Henry’s mouth felt so fucking good. Field’s pride was on the line, though.
He needed Henry to keep coming back for more. Field didn’t have much else to offer.
The sounds Henry made around his cock drove him insane.
Field was all in, trying to make Henry blow as quickly as possible.
He fingered Henry’s asshole while choking on his dick.
Every ounce of technique and dignity was out the window.
He didn’t know how long it took before he felt Henry tense.
Nothing mattered except for them and this experience.
Henry pulled some move that distracted Field.
Cum unexpectedly filled his mouth, gagging him.
Henry was off him in a flash. “Take a breath. Fuck. Are you okay?”
He hated that he ruined the best part of Henry’s orgasm by his lack of attention span. Field swallowed several times, trying to get his shaky stomach under control. The moment he did, the laughter set in. Tears rolled back into his hair while Henry stared at him in confusion.
Field swiped at his eyes with the heels of his hands, trying to stop laughing.
“Of all the ways—” Field laughed harder.
He couldn’t help it. He took a few breaths and tried again.
“Of all the ways to go.” Field imagined Henry could barely understand him, but he kept trying.
“You could tell people you’re so dangerous, you once killed a dude with your dick. ”
Henry’s shoulders fell. Relief visibly poured through him. He shook his head. “Where did you even come from? You were thoroughly let down in this encounter and still you’re laughing.”
Field took a breath and found some semblance of calm. His smile couldn’t be dampened. “I’m not disappointed. Not at all. Are you?”
For a moment, Henry stared at Field in a way he couldn’t understand. He saw something he hadn’t seen before. “No. You never let me down.” He snagged Field’s leg and yanked him closer. “But I wasn’t finished.”
The laughter died a total death when Henry lowered his head and went back to sucking Field’s dick.
Field watched. He didn’t close his eyes or look away.
His mind could be a scary place, but he was right here with Henry.
The closer Henry took him to heaven, the farther away the ugliness went.
Before long, he gripped the sheets and begged.
He fucked Henry’s mouth. For a moment, as he hung over the edge, he wondered if Henry was right all the times he said Field couldn’t handle him.
Maybe he couldn’t, but not for the reasons Henry thought.
He had never felt this happy. What would happen to his mind when that stopped?
Field’s entire body jerked as the world disappeared and all Field felt was ecstasy.
His fear vanished, getting lost in the way his body hummed with pleasure.
Even when Henry crawled up his body and their tongues played, Field didn’t recall what he had been thinking about before Henry wiped his mind.
All he knew was bliss. Field had never gotten to say that before.
“Have you had fun playing hooky today?”
Henry smiled at Beau’s observation. He didn’t bother to hide it when he met Beau’s stare. “I seem to recall someone talking about retiring recently.”
“I’m glad to see you’ve gotten over Mickey.”
Henry wasn’t surprised Beau knew everything. He always did. “There was never really anything to get over, was there? He was never mine.”
Beau looked relaxed, leaning back in his office chair.
It was good to see him finally letting go of some things.
“Pride never cares about facts. I would know.” He flashed a wry smile.
“Field seems an odd choice for you.” He leaned forward and set his elbows on the desk.
“Then again, maybe not. His constant ridiculousness between bouts of mania probably keeps you on your toes.”
Henry crossed his legs at the ankles and his arms across his chest. If Beau wanted to get personal, they would.
He was the only person Henry ever talked to like this without stumbling over his words.
They had known each other for too long. Seen each other at their lowest. They had nothing to hide from each other.
“When you first started seeing Kylo, I thought you’d eat him alive.”
“Turns out it’s the other way around,” Beau said with a laugh.
“I like seeing you happy.” A wicked smile stretched his lips. “I won’t say you deserve it.”
Beau’s eyes swam with humor. “Bastard.”
“Meh.”
Beau shook his head. His eyes turned a bit more serious, but not much. “Be careful of this one. You saw what he did the night I invited these boys to live here. He showed his real self with that hostage he took.”
Henry was aware. He understood the warning. The night Beau had made his offer, it came after an attack on the crew’s property. A hostage had been taken. After Field’s questioning, nothing had been left of the guy.
Unfortunately, Beau wasn’t done. “I don’t judge him.
You know I don’t. Hell, we’ve probably done worse.
I also don’t think he’ll hurt anyone here.
He wouldn’t be here if I did, but I know when you care about people.
You’re loyal to the grave. I have a bad feeling that one isn’t long for this world. Some people can’t be fixed.”
