Chapter Twenty-Eight

RAZ

My Selin let out an eerie howl. They have scented prey in their territory and are now on the hunt. I launch into the sky, looking for any movement on the borders of my land. I arrive at the south wall and watch from above as a group of Korgons cut their way through a side gate.

I am amazed at their courage because there is not a being alive that does not know who this mountain belongs to.

What could they possibly steal that would be worth the wrath of my father?

That thought no sooner leaves my mind when I see the small, human female approaching.

She is talking animatedly to the Uana riding on her shoulder.

She has no idea she is walking right into a trap, and she is so preoccupied, she does not even notice me floating above her.

Before I can shout out a warning, they surround her. She stops in her tracks. I watch her little Uana turn bright orange and with a single swipe of his spiked tail, he cuts off the blue hand reaching out for her.

I fly down, landing quietly behind her. To my absolute amazement, I watch her body turn black right in front of me. Her little lizard circles her neck, striking out at anything that comes too close to her, including me.

I clear my throat. “ Now , my fine fellows, is this any way to treat a lady? I do not believe she wants to go with you.”

“ Leave us, Dark Glider , as this is no concern of yours. She is our property, and we are taking her back to her proper owner.”

“ Dark Glider , I think I like the sound of that. You do know I am never going to let you touch her, right?”

“ There are four of us and only one of you, and we do not care who your father is. You are not DaR ! We made sure he would not get in the way of our mission and you are just a distraction.”

“ You know, I have always wanted to be my father’s favorite!

And this is a perfect way for me to rise in his esteem.

So not only will I make sure the dark forest absorbs your blood, but I will make sure your very essence is erased from existence.

You should give thanks to your Gods that it was me who found you here.

I will make it fast, whereas my father would have made you suffer.

No one touches what is his and lives to tell about it. ”

The whole time I have been talking to the blue idiots in front of me, I was giving my Selin time to get here.

They silently surround them from behind and, with a flick of my hand, they attack.

Just as I promised, it is quick, and now their remains will be feasted upon by the dark forest itself.

Used to the chaos of their feeding, I turn away and stand before the little female that has captured my father’s heart.

Her Uana is perched protectively on her shoulder.

When I start to reach for her, his tail unwinds, and blades slip from his skin.

He flicks it back and forth in front of her, daring me to get any closer.

I step back, not sure how to proceed. Between the Symbots that have her entire body encased and the Uana , I am not getting near her.

“ Ummm Father ? You may want to head home, we have a situation here.”
