Page 93 of Cruel Possession
“And been branded a coward because of you? Fuck no. You want to fight, want this to end, then you face me like a fucking man instead of terrorizing your sister.” Aiden’s fist snaps out with his words, catching Noah in the face before the vase comes down over his head.
Noah stumbles to the side, and the gun drops.
I rip it out of his hands before he has a chance to shoot Aiden.
And in that moment, I have two choices. I could either run and have my freedom, or I could try to stay and protect the man I love.
Neither option is a good one.
But I have the chance to save him. Only him.
Because no matter what I do, I’m going to die here.
Chapter Twenty-Eight
AIDEN
Blood fillsmy mouth as Noah whirls around and slams his fist into the side of my face.
Fuck, that’s going to leave a mark.
I spit out a mouthful of blood onto the ground before grabbing Noah when he lunges for me again.
His hands lock around my arms before I have a chance to shift around. He slams me hard into the wall, plaster cracking.
Noah smirks, holding his hand out for the gun. “Zoe, give it to me.”
“Let go of him,” Zoe says, her tone firm as she aims at Noah. “If you don’t, I’m going to be the one to kill you.”
He laughs and lets go of me, and the moment he does, I’m on him again, tackling him to the ground.
I might not have a gun, but I could kill him with my bare hands. That might be more satisfying than shooting him.
My knee dives into his stomach.
Noah groans.
Pain explodes in my face as he throws his elbow into my face.
I grit my teeth, trying to get my hands around his neck.
Noah thrashes, and his knee catches me the right way to send me to the side and off of him.
He rolls, getting on top of me. His fist slams into my face.
Zoe presses the gun to the back of his head. “You’re going to get off him right now, Noah. I’m serious. If you don’t think I have what it takes to pull the trigger, then try me.”
He sucks in a sharp breath before holding up his hands and getting off me. “This isn’t the way I want to kill you, Lynde. Not yet. I have so many thoughts on how I’m going to do it.”
And in the blink of an eye, he reveals a large shard of glass in his hand, slashing at Zoe.
She jumps back, but her grip on the gun isn’t tight enough.
He swings at her again, forcing her back another step before swooping down to pick up the gun.
She clamps a hand over her injured arm, but it isn’t enough to stop the blood rolling down in a thick stream.
Noah clicks his tongue as he stands in front of the door with the gun, taking his time turning between both me and Zoe. “She does care for you. How sweet.”
