Page 52 of Cruel Possession
Skyla drags out one of the chairs at the patio table and sits down, nodding to the one across from her. “You know, I’ve been thinking about what you get from behaving. And why my brother would take you to a sex show, and then the pieces start to click into place.”
I perch on the edge of the wooden table. “I’m sure I don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She shrugs. “Wondered who he was sneaking around with all this time. Didn’t bother to bring my suspicions up with the others yet. Ellie can get a little…stabby when she’s in the right mood. And after all your family has done to mine, I doubt she’s going to be in a very nice mood. Especially when she finds out that you’re manipulating our brother.”
“I wouldn’t call what I’m doing with your brother manipulating.”
Skyla snorts. “Have you met a man who doesn’t think with their cock?”
The wind howls through the trees, the clouds getting darker and the snow falling heavier.
I shift on the table, wishing that she could’ve waited until I was inside to start playing games.
Skyla kicks her feet up on the table, clearly getting comfortable. “Now, I’m not going to tell them because personally, I think it’ll be harder for Aiden if nobody knows that you two are fucking.”
“Can we hurry this up? It’s colder than a yeti’s tits.”
Her head tilts to the side a little. “I would’ve thought those would be slightly warm. With all the fur and whatnot.”
I groan and take a deep breath. “Why don’t you just tell me why you’re out here bothering me?”
“Because I don’t like you with my brother. I don’t trust you and if he knew what was good for him, he wouldn’t trust you either.”
I shrug. “Probably a smart choice. Can’t say that I trust him fully. But what I don’t understand is why you’re taking such an interest in his life. I thought you were happy away from home?”
“Doesn’t mean I don’t care about my siblings and the bullshit that you’ve been putting them through for far too long.” Skyla runs a hand through her hair, pulling it to one side over her shoulder. “And what I find really interesting is the fact that you were in Aiden’s study and taking pictures.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.” I try to remain calm.
Skyla smiles, her eyes narrowing, the look in them becoming more focused than they have been. “So, what are you going to do with those pictures you took?”
“Still don’t know what you’re talking about.”
She arches an eyebrow. “I thought you were a better liar.”
Aiden slides open the door, stepping outside. “What the hell are the two of you doing out here?”
When Skyla glances at Aiden, I consider lunging at her. I could get my hands around her throat and start choking her long before she has the chance to say anything to him.
He would pull me off her, though.
I could drag her into the pool and drown her.
Skyla looks back at me like she knows exactly what’s going through my head.
And then her mouth starts to open.
Chapter Seventeen
AIDEN
I glancebetween Skyla and Zoe, waiting for one of them to say something. Skyla’s mouth starts to move before it snaps shut.
Zoe is glaring daggers at her head, her hands curling into fists at her side. The look in her eyes is nearly murderous. She could try it with Skyla if she really wanted, but historically that hasn't gone well for her.
Skyla is a psychopath when she feels like it.
Literally.
