Page 100 of Cruel Possession
She scowls at him, but the swaying gets worse. The little color that came to her face with the tears is gone.
Now, she just looks like a sickly wax figure.
We need to leave now, or she’s not going to make it out of here alive.
Noah clears his throat. “Carry on, Zoe. Kill him.”
She aims the gun at me again.
A million different emotions flicker over her face before she settles on one of neutrality, not saying a word. Her finger curls over the trigger.
Zoe takes a deep breath before spinning, the gun pointing at Noah.
She pulls the trigger without a second thought, the bullet lodging in the wall beside his head.
He chuckles, stalking closer to her. “You stupid fucking bitch.”
He rips the gun from her hands before turning it on me and shooting me in the stomach.
The pain blinding, white-hot.
I groan, doubling over and pressing my hands to the wound.
Blood oozes through my fingers, but it’s not pouring. He might not have hit anything important. There’s still a chance to make it out of this alive.
Zoe takes a step forward, but she’s met with a fist to the gut.
She glares at Noah as he holsters the gun again.
Fuck.
He slams his fist into the middle of her back, and she goes sprawling to the floor, more pieces of the vase tearing into her skin.
I drop to the ground beside her, only to be met with his boot to the side of my face.
My shoulder slams into the floor.
Pain explodes through me as another shot is fired off.
Noah crouches down beside me, pressing the gun beneath my chin.
“Whoever thought that it was going to end like this? To be honest, I considered keeping you alive to watch your entire family be murdered. Could’ve been a good time, hearing their screams again and knowing there was nothing you could do to help them, but this has gone on for far too long.”
“Fuck you.” I rear up and ram my head into his.
He winces but manages to keep his balance. “God fucking damn it.”
Zoe scrambles over to me, but he moves faster, standing and grabbing her by the ankle, dragging her over the broken vase before kicking her hard in the stomach.
She curls in around herself with a whimper.
I take a deep breath and push to my feet, a little wobbly due to the blood seeping from my torso and leg.
My head is spinning as I creep closer to her.
Noah looks between the two of us and laughs before aiming at her chest and pulling the trigger.
He turns back to me. “I think this is a much better end, don’t you? You’re going to watch her bleed out, and then you get to live with the loss of your almost-fiancée.”
