-:- COLTON -:-

“Colton!” I turn and give Axel my attention.

“What’s up, Pres?”

Axel walks past me while speaking. “You can come with us and sort this fucker out. I’m thinking of upgrading your position to enforcer three, but only if you make the cut.”

Shock runs down my body. Enforcer! Me! I’m speechless.

But an officer position is an upgrade and I know I can do whatever is asked of me.

“Coming, Pres,” I reply, while quickly catching up to him and heading out of the clubhouse to our hogs.

I’ve no idea as yet where we are going, but from his comment I presume Nell’s.

Buzz, Drag and Axel are straddling their bikes so I quickly get myself on mine and start her up. I notice Wings is not with us, but I also know Axel leaves an enforcer behind to make sure the clubhouse is covered. BS I know is around today as he is in the common room talking with Web.

Riding beside Buzz while Axel and Drag are in front, I can’t help but enjoy the ride. I love riding with my brothers, and the club saved us all because I’ve no doubt we were heading for being deadbeats with prison in our futures.

Arriving at Nell’s, I smirk when I see Graham playing some shit game with Oscar and Ajay.

The two Dobermanns are as tough as needed to guard this place, but once they know you, they are loyal.

They join in anything that is happening and I’ve seen Ajay crawling on his belly next to Tank, wearing night vision goggles.

This whole place is warm, friendly, but deadly.

Yet, you would never know how dark this place can be, or that there are gators unless you are honored enough to be trusted by Nell and her team.

Axel slaps my shoulder. “You go with Richie, Tank and Buzz. I’ll wait here with Drag for the time being.”

Nodding, I follow Richie, and although I’ve not been in the cell area, I show no interest in anything other than why we are here. Here is the reason, sitting in a cell looking worse than he probably did yesterday.

Richie smirks, “Women beaters are scum. Women and kids are who men, real men, should be protecting. Some women are strong and capable, and I have every admiration for them. Worked alongside some in the forces and I’d be happy to have them beside me in any situation.

But, these…” pointing at the asshole in the cell, “assholes don’t deserve to draw a next breath.

Tank did his thing and you know this fucker put his woman in the hospital four times, broken arm, leg, ribs, concussion.

A defenseless woman. Yeah, he needs to be gone. ”

“You can’t do this. It’s against the law.”

I turn and look at the idiot who is in the cell, and smirk at him. “Oh, I think we did, so proves we can. Do you think assholes like you beating on women deserve any kind of respect? You’re scum of the earth and I’m happy to put you into the ground without a twitch on my conscience.”

“I…I…” he stuttered.

Richie opens the cell door and I step inside, allowing the monster I carry inside me to pour into my system. “Let’s start with the broken arm shall we? ”

It doesn’t take me long to inflict all the injuries on him that he inflicted on his wife. He’s pitifully crying, with snot and blood running down his face. Richie steps into the cell, slaps my back and gives me a nod showing his respect towards me.

“Axel is on his way down.” Chuckling at something before he continues, “He’s been eating Nell’s cheesecake.”

Buzz snort laughs, “Fuckin’ hell, he loves Nell’s cheesecake, and if he could get it to the clubhouse, he’d steal the lot.”

“I fuckin’ would.”

Turning I look at the cell door where Axel is standing looking satisfied…well, until he looks at the fucker who has passed out cold and is now laying on the small cot bleeding all over the thin mattress.

“Wake him up, Tank.” Axel steps into the cell and gives me a nod to step outside, which I do.

Tank grabs a bucket from the corner of the cell and throws what I’m not sure is either water or piss, but there is a small toilet in the cell, so who knows!

“What! What’s happenin’?” The asshole asks.

Axel smirks, and shit, he has that look on his face. The one that says don’t fuck with me. “What’s happening is your end.”

“No, you can’t kill me.”

Axel chuckles, looking at all of us standing around, watching the exchange. “Why not? You were quite happy to beat the shit out of your woman. Oh, we know about the two others you’ve been fucking as well. They also have hospital records of injuries that you inflicted. ”

“No, no…”

“Shut the fuck up, for good.” Axel whips out his weapon and places it on the fucker's forehead. “Good night. Tell the devil you’re sorry.”

Now, I still wasn’t ready, but Axel pulled the trigger and that was the end of this asshole.

Never going to hurt anyone else. Axel grunts as he turns, gives a sorry look to Richie because of the mess he’ll have to clean, but Richie doesn’t give a fuck.

He nods before taking out his phone to inform Nell.

Walking into the clubhouse an hour later, after making sure we don’t have a speck of blood on us, we follow Axel to his office. Taking a seat on the side of the room, I wait for what is going to happen now.

Axel sits forward in his seat behind his desk.

“I have no trouble putting a bullet in the skull of some asshole like the scum we just removed from the earth. Specs investigated and found more than the three women we originally knew about. In fact, there were twelve he had beaten and put in the emergency room. We also have an idea he killed one, too. Now, as far as I’m concerned the world is a better place.

Does anyone have an objection to what occurred? ”

Not one of us in the office speaks out. We all know he was a piece of filth and needed to be eradicated, like the vermin he was. I lean back in my seat and observe, for now soaking in how the inner circle works.

“Okay, then let’s get to the question of Colton being our third Enforcer, shall we?” Axel looks at everyone in the room, and not one makes a comment in response to his question. “I’m bringing it to the table at church, and I expect it to be seconded and voted on accordingly. ”

Everyone nods, letting Axel know no-one has a problem with my being an Enforcer. Axel does nothing without having a reason, but as yet he’s not telling what that is. I’m sure whenever he’s ready he’ll bring it to us.

“Step up your training, Colton, and get your anger under control. I want to see you become calm and calculated when faced with anything from petty name calling to a full out attack.” Axel is looking directly at me, and I give him a nod.

“Are Lincoln, Arrow and Bones working out?” Axel asks.

I sit forward in my seat as I respond. “Yes, they are doing a fine job on the doors, and they are going to the Range and working with Target and Chaos. Keeping their skills tight. Meat has done movement training with us all, too. But, someone let slip about the women having knife and cleaver skills, now they want the cleaver throwing experience.”

The office is filled with chuckles and comments about women and defense.

We all know that they have a wild streak in them, and it’s more than obvious when they get a weapon in their hands.

It seems even if they arrive at the club through being claimed, they all get feisty one way or another.

Even Jo has her aggressive side, even if it is throwing shoes to protect her man.

“I want to encourage Lincoln, Arrow and Bones to see us as brothers. They are ideal candidates as new brothers. We’ve all seen the consequences if we are left to wander alone…

we flounder. We here, have each other and it’s what grounds us, what has helped us to have purpose.

I am speaking of pre-women to each of us, well, some of us.

” Grinning when he says the last, but he gets no reaction.

“Colton, listen to the three of them, and if you think they can serve the club with any kind of business, bring it to me. They need roots, but I have other ideas! ”

Of course, Axel doesn’t tell us what his ideas are, but sometimes his ideas take years to come to fruition. Chaos walks into the office, gives Axel a nod before taking a seat.

“Is it done?” Axel asks.

Chaos grins. “Sure. She’s out of town. Her dad went with her and they are starting over elsewhere. She’s put a divorce into motion, but we all know he’ll not be doing a thing about it. She’ll get it in time, but her dad knows not to worry.”

“Okay. How many is that now, Chaos?”

“Thirty-four.” Chaos shows no signs of emotion, and it’s a little disconcerting, as he is normally full of himself and has a happy-go-lucky nature.

Axel steeples his hands while nodding. Turning to the rest of us he speaks calmly.

“Chaos has been working on something for me. He’s been doing it quietly and efficiently.

I wasn’t sure if we could pull it off, but we have and it’s grown.

” We all remain quiet while waiting for Axel to continue.

“We have been rescuing women from dangerous situations and getting them out of state. We’ve created a network with a few MCs that have been more than happy to take these women and move them further away or get them settled.

As you just heard, Chaos has now moved thirty-four women.

I want to keep this going, but Chaos is now being seen as a man-whore,” Saying that Axel chuckles, “I hope when you find your woman she’s understanding, Chaos. ”

“Well, she’ll not have a choice, really. But I’m worth having.” Chaos gives the biggest smile I’ve ever seen on his face. I wonder if he’s seen someone that he’s more than a little interested in?

My mind flicks to the woman that piqued my interest. I was slow and didn’t get her name or information, but she sure made me look twice.

The women she was sitting with for that short while are known. One for wanting any man’s dick, and the other as that woman’s support system. I know that one doesn’t have anything to do with the men her friend picks up, but it’s tarnishing her reputation, nonetheless.

I heard them call the woman I liked the look of, Nyx. I’ll be keeping my eye open for her in the future. She didn’t seem like the other two and she left without worrying about either of the women. Told me she isn’t invested in that friendship, and I was more than happy to see that.

Axel dismisses us and I shake my head a little because I’ve been that busy thinking about this woman, Nyx, that I missed the rest of the conversation. My bad, as Mia would say.

Walking over to Knuckles and Jo in the common room, I give them both a warning look. Not to start their lovey-dovey stuff while I’m speaking with them.

“I’m going into town to canvas a couple of properties I’m interested in looking at. Do you want to come with, Knuckles?”

“Yeah, I can come and ride shotgun. Jo has a deadline to meet, so she’s best left to it.

After lunch she’s going to be helping Mia take toys the twins don’t need any more to the Swap Shop.

It’s becoming more of a charity shop than anything else.

” Knuckles kisses Jo quickly and follows me out to our hogs.

Straddling my hog, I look at Knuckles. “We don’t want to register the place as a charity ‘cause that would lead to all types of rules and regulations. Not sure Sentry would be happy about that. ”

Shaking his head, he straddles his bike while agreeing. We head out to the first place I want to take a look at. It’s on the opposite side of town to the clubhouse, so that’s a minus point to me before we start. But, it has a nice plot of land with it which is what caught my eye originally.

Pulling up outside, the first thing that we see is a bulldozer knocking down the old house. I look at Knuckles and shrug. “Well, that’s this one off my list.”

“Sure is.” Knuckles chuckles as we head out to look at the next one I wanted to ride by.

This one is only ten minutes from the clubhouse on a lazy ride.

It’s a nice property with around two acres of land behind the house.

It’s a little like a farmhouse, but modern.

The couple that own it have it for sale as the kids are married and moved away.

The size of the place wasn’t needed anymore.

That’s what the woman told me when I stopped to speak to her one day as I was passing.

Pulling up in front of the place, we park our hogs and stand, taking the house in. The door opens and the same woman I spoke to before walks out and gives a small wave.

“Hello, Colton. You back for another look?” Now, I’m surprised she remembers my name, but I give her a smile in return before introducing Knuckles.

“I’m thinking of asking the realtor to get an appointment to look the place over. I like the look of it, and the fact it’s near the clubhouse. Away from prying neighbors, too,” I state.

She’s nodding, showing understanding. “Well, come on in. Take a look now. Nothing like the present. ”

We follow the lady who I know is Nolly Northwood, as she’d introduced herself fully to me previously. “If it’s not going to put you out, that would be great.”

“Not putting me out. Bart is in town and won’t be back for an hour, but he’ll be sorry he missed you.” Nolly opens the front door and we step inside.

An hour later, I’m walking back to my hog with Knuckles right behind me. Nolly has been more than accommodating, answering every question and giving information she thought I could want.

Stopping suddenly, I turn to Nolly, Knuckles having to step to the side as I step back toward her. “Nolly, can I give you a private offer on the place?”

Nolly looks surprised. “I don’t see why not. But why don’t you give my husband a call, speak to him about it? I’m more than happy to have you buy the place, Colton. It needs a young person to take it, create a family and bring them up here.”

We swap digits, then we head back to the clubhouse, and I’m more than determined to have that house. Even if I have to do it through the realtor.
