-:- COLTON -:-

Eating breakfast, which today is toast as I’m not that hungry and I’m not one for stuffing my face for the sake of it.

Meat is great with our diets, especially if we are lifting weights or doing extra cardio.

We all like to stay fit and healthy. Mind you, Axel won’t let us get sloppy with our fitness or mental health.

Knuckles and Jo take a seat beside me and I give a nod, “Good morning.” I’m not looking at anyone this morning because we all know what today is going to be about. The brothers with women are gonna be bragging about how well they completed the book scenes.

“Are you okay, Colton?” Jo asks, and yeah she looks concerned.

“I’m fine. But need to get out of here before…” Damn, I shut my mouth before I say something that will upset Jo.

“Before?” Jo looks at me.

“Nothing,” I respond, picking up my plate, leaving the table, and giving Knuckles a nasty look as I pass by him. He knows what shit is going to go down today, and he has no fucking shame.

Placing my plate in the dishwasher after giving it a rinse in the sink, I turn to walk away when Sybil speaks to me. “Are you out today, Colton?”

“I have some things to do today. Do you need anything?” I ask.

Sybil smiles. “No, I just wondered if you were going to be here when they all come in bragging about their evening. ”

Looking at Sybil, I can see she’s not impressed with the last part of her comment.

But, to be fair, none of the single brothers will be.

In fact, I can imagine most will not be around the clubhouse for a few days, and if they are, they will stay in their rooms. “Sickening is what it is,” I comment.

“I think I’m going to catch up with Nyx today.

I’ll give it a shot, anyway. But if not, I’ll make sure I do sometime during the week. ”

“You stay in touch with her. Even a text message is better than no contact at all. Courtship is about getting to know one another well. Likes, dislikes, pasts, and what the future looks like to each of you.” Sybil doesn’t wait for a response.

She turns and heads to the sink where the dishes are piling up.

Walking to my room, I close the door behind me and sit on the edge of my bed. Taking out my phone, I text Nyx.

Colton: Just checking in to see if everything is ok with the gang hanging around.

It only takes a minute for a reply to arrive. That has me smiling, and on my own I can afford to, as there is nobody here to take the piss.

Nyx: No sign of them so far. I’ve seen some of your biker friends passing, and gave them a wave [smiling emoji]

Colton: Good. If you see them you let me know.

Nyx: I will. Do you want to come and have an after-work meal with me at my apartment?

Colton: Yeah, love to. When?

Nyx: Tomorrow?

Colton: Yeah. What time?

Nyx: 6:30 ?

Colton: Great, I’ll be there

That is a great surprise, and I’m gonna look forward to it, and I mean the company and the meal.

“Colton, office,” Drag shouts as he knocks on my room door. I don’t hang around. I quickly push my phone into my jeans pocket and follow Drag downstairs.

We walk into BS’s office, which surprises me, as I assumed we were going to see Axel. I stand next to Buzz and watch as BS writes something on the board he has set up on the wall.

BS turns and pushes the tiny pencil on his ear a little to save it from falling, but honestly, I feel like buying him a new pack of pencils.

“As yet, we have no confirmation that Stefan, was or is, at the old mill. We will have to set up some recon. I’ve put you down, Colton, to go with Target.

He’ll make sure your sniper abilities are sharp.

I know Meat has taught you, but Target is the best-of-the-best.”

“Okay, no problem, BS.” I nod to show him that I really am okay with working alongside Target.

BS points at the board, “The teenagers and their families are safely moved to be with House, the President at the Steel Scorpions MC. But we’ve also spoken with the Road Vultures MC, and Sharrow is happy to take any more we have to move out of town.”

That’s good news about the families. I remember the two MCs and Road Vultures at that time were a bit on the rough side, maybe one percenter, but it was known he was cleaning up.

I’d like to know how that MC and the Steel Scorpions are doing now, but it’s not our business, so probably won’t find out.

I’m not sure why there are so many evil assholes in the world, but there seems to be more than when I was a kid. Maybe it is growing up that opens your eyes, so you notice more of the shit that is happening?

“As I said, you are scheduled for recon with Target. He’ll contact you about that Colton,” BS continues.

Again, I give him a nod to show I’ve registered his comment, then he continues.

“Four different groups of kids, because let’s face it, that is what most of them are, have been sighted around town.

No sign as yet of Stefan. He’s hiding well, and probably not in town.

Keep asking, as he can’t hide forever. Dismissed. ”

I look at Buzz and his lip twitches as he nearly laughs at the ‘Dismissed’ too. Honestly, sometimes I think BS is still in the forces, in his head at least.

Walking out of the office, I’m caught by Web. “Can I have a word with you, Colton?”

“Course you can.” I follow Web to his room, where we enter, and he closes the door. I take a seat in the easy chair near the window, and watch as Web paces a few steps back and forth. Something is obviously wrong, and he’s working out how to tell me what’s bothering him.

“Just spit it out, Web,” I say calmly.

“My mother died five weeks ago. I was contacted, but I didn’t go to the funeral, or contact my father. You know what he is like Colton, and I’m not the kid anymore that he bullied and abused. He’s been in touch.”

“What the fuck does he want?” I snarl this time because Web’s father is the scum of the earth, and I’d love to take him to Nell’s. Now that is a good idea, but he could give Jaws indigestion because he’s so vile.

“He wants money. Money, he says to pay for the funeral. Well, how could he have buried her if he had no money? I’m not falling for it, Colton.

My mother was organized, and she once told me she’d got a burial plan so she’d already paid for it.

” Web sits on the edge of his bed, runs his fingers through his hair in agitation.

“Go speak with Axel. He’s our Pres, and he’ll tell you what is the right thing to do. He needs to know in case your father turns up here, and we both know he’s more than capable of doing that.”

Web nods. “Okay, I’ll go speak with Axel. But I would love to punch the shit out of my father. I truly hate the man, and if we could take him to Nell’s I’d fucking do it, Colton.”

“I’m with you, brother. We’ve been here a long time now.

Came together and we are brothers no matter the blood.

I’ll fuck him up if he shows up here and you are not around.

But yeah, suggest Nell’s to Axel.” I give Web my imitation of Axel’s feral smirk, which of course, gets the reaction I want. Which is Web cracking up laughing.

Walking into the common room ready to head out to Club Whisky for my afternoon and evening stint on the door I stop and watch Hammer walking like he’s shit his pants, with Tilly looking like she just got off a horse after a long ride.

Tilly is carrying Quinn who is just so gorgeous.

I give them both a disgusted look before taking Quinn and snuggling her into my chest. “You two are disgusting, and I don’t want you filthying up my niece.

” I walk into the kitchen where I know Quinn will be taken from me by one of the Stooges that are bound to be there.

I was right. Bitty walked right up to me, took Quinn, kissed my cheek and walked away .

As I’m straddling my hog my phone pings, and looking down I’m surprised to see a text from Nell.

Nell: I’m bored, so going on recon at 2:00 am if you are interested?

Colton: I’m in. Where are we going?

Nell: Wintergate Town has an old warehouse, and I’ve heard whispers.

Colton: I’ll be with you as soon as I’m done working at Club Whisky.

Nell: [thumbs up, emoji]

This could be fun because Nell is tough, and when she’s bored, I’ve heard from Graham she can be a menace, and I’d like to see that.

No wonder Vitale is interested in Nell. I’ve heard about the arranged marriage offers he’s had with women that are taught to be seen, not heard, and pop out new mafia men.

I cannot ever see Vitale going for one of those.

Besides, I’ve seen the way he looks at Nell and he’s not going to give in, especially now he’s had two dates with her, which ended with him chasing her down.

Nell would make a good Donna for the Mafia as she’s not scared to face up to issues presented before her. She runs her own business, which is a multi-million-dollar business, thanks to her clients paying extortionate amounts.

****

Door duty done, and I’ve sneaked away from Garth, who was working the door with me today. He knows I’m up to something, but I’ve been able to scrape him off just before I tore out-of-town heading to Nell’s place .

I’m watching for a follower, but not seen anyone at this point. Garth must have headed home to Hannah, and the staff at Club Whisky don’t care where I go when the club closes.

Pulling into Nell’s, I park my hog around the side of the house where I know Graham, Tank and Richie leave their babies.

The dogs are watching me and although alert, they’ve seen me enough to know I’m not a threat.

I throw them both a sausage that I stole from the kitchen, and grin when they catch and swallow after only chewing twice.

Knocking and opening the back door I give Nell a nod, along with the three boys as she calls them. “Evening. So…?” I rub my hands together, which shows them I’m up for whatever shenanigans Nell has in store.
