Kabir
Fuck!
I was kissing her.
This woman—wrapped in my arms—she was mine. Not in some possessive, caveman way. No. She was mine in that quiet, aching, soul-bound kind of way. And I would’ve done anything to keep her there, right then, pressed against me like she belonged.
“Jaan,” she whispered against my lips.
I stilled.
My heart slammed into my ribs like it was trying to claw its way out.
Had she just—?
I pulled back, eyes wide, blinking at her like I wasn’t sure I’d heard it right.
“Heer,” I said, my voice rough. “Did you just call me—?”
She let out a soft, tear-laced chuckle and nodded, her smile lopsided and full of something I didn’t dare name.
“Life,” she whispered. “Jaan. Meri jaan.”
This woman… this woman had plans to kill me, and I would let her. Gladly.
I shook my head, dazed. “You… what?”
I couldn’t move. Couldn’t speak beyond that. I hadn’t expected it. Hadn’t hoped for it. I just wanted her. Wanted to give her every piece of me I’d held back for so damn long.
She waved a hand in front of my face, fingers snapping playfully. “You good, Mr. Kabir Gill?”
That broke whatever spell I was under. I smirked and gently tugged her toward the bed, her fingers tightening around mine as she sat down willingly.
Sitting wasn’t going to cut it.
I braced myself above her, knees on either side of her thighs, watching her lean back into the mattress until she lay there beneath me—eyes glistening, mouth parted, looking at me like I was something worth wanting.
“You call me that one more time,” I whispered against her lips, “and I swear I’ll explode.”
She grinned, lips tugging into a wicked pout. “Aw… been too long, Cipher?”
I nodded, pressing my nose against hers. “Seven years.”
Her eyes widened, stunned. “You’re joking. You’ve… you never?”
I shook my head slowly, a smile playing on my lips. Gently—so gently, like she was made of the most precious glass—I took one of her hands and guided it above her head, holding it there. Just feeling her pulse skip against my palm.
“You went without sex for seven years?” she asked again, voice breathy, full of disbelief.
“Why is that so hard to believe?” I murmured, dropping a trail of kisses from her cheek to her jaw, then lower—like I was following a map I’d memorized in dreams. My mouth found the delicate curve of her neck and I lingered there, savoring it.
“But… didn’t all of you Squad Six boys go out? You know… night outs, random hookups, I remember that.”
Her breath was catching now. Her tone hazy, cracking just enough to tell me she was barely holding on.
I nipped at her skin, just enough to make her gasp. “Kabir…”
There. That’s what I needed.
