“In that case, one of you can carry mine to the front,” John says.
Xander picks it up.
“Once done, we have hot cider, hot chocolate or coffee inside,” Emily tells everyone.
It doesn’t take long to get the pumpkins situated and for us to put ours in the car. We can drop them at the house later. We then follow everyone into the kitchen to warm up and have a hot chocolate stuffed full of cream and marshmallows. Is there anything better?
While we are drinking hot chocolate, we arrange a date for everyone to help us move into our house.
We can start bringing things to the house, but for the larger items, Adhan will bring his van.
CHAPTER 28
We spend the next few days travelling between our storage units and our house, fitting as much as we can in the car for each trip.
John and Jodie offer to look after the boys a few times, which they love. They have the boys today, as both Jodie and John have the day off.
“How long do you think it will be before the boys call John grandpa?” I ask Sly, as we drive back to our house, having come to the storage unit to collect more of the smaller items.
Sly laughs. “Not too long, I should imagine. I’m glad we met them.”
“Me too. I don’t know who has more fun, John or our brothers.”
“I can’t believe today is Halloween. Tonight, should be fun,” Sly says.
Since we protected the whole of the farm, the event has been fun and stress-free, but it closes tonight.
“We have our costumes for tonight. I still can’t believe we have to dress up as Star Wars characters,” I grump out.
Sly bursts out laughing. “That’s what happens when you leave it up to chance.”
We asked the boys what they wanted to dress up as. The boys opted for Star Wars, Sly wanted the Fantastic Four, although he wouldn’t tell me who he thought the Invisible Woman would be, and I wanted X-Men. We wrote the options on paper and folded them up, putting them in a glass, and we let Enoch pull one out. He pulled Star Wars.
“It will be fun and it’s only for one night,” he points out.
“I know. I can’t wait to see the other costumes. Want to take bets that Titus and Kean will be Beetlejuice and Lydia?” I ask, grinning.
“That’s a lot of dress. If he does and there are prizes, hands down he’ll win.”
Sly pulls up in front of our garage. “I still can’t believe we own this amazing house.”
“I keep imagining it with all our furniture in. It will all go.”
“It will,” he agrees, as we get out of the car.
We unload the car and take the boxes to their relevant locations. Saturday and Sunday, our new family will help us move in properly.
After unloading the car, we walk to Jodie and John’s to collect the boys, so we can go back to the B&B and change.
Sly knocks on the door, and it is soon opened by Jodie, who gives us a massive smile and pulls both of us into hugs. “Come on in. The boys are in the kitchen.”
“Thanks, Jodie,” I say, following her to the kitchen as Sly closes the front door.
The boys are sitting at the kitchen table with their tablets and books are on the table. Looks like they are studying. They look up as we walk in.
“Hi John, hey brothers,” I say.
“Hello Ebby, Sly, the boys have been working hard this afternoon,” John tells us.
