“I can give him that, don’t worry.”
“We’re here,” Ernest says, as we drive into the car park.
“There they are by those police officers,” Adhan tells me, swinging into a parking space a few rows over.
I just about wait for the car to stop before I jump out and rush over to my brothers. They are not by the entrance but standing by the car.
Xander sees me first.
“Ebby,” he calls.
I run to their side and they both throw themselves into my arms and I hug them tight.
“We tried to get him out of the van, but it drove away too fast,” Enoch says, looking at me, sadness and shock in his eyes.
“Thank you for trying. Were either of you hurt?”
They both shake their heads.
“No, just scared for Sly,” Xander replies.
Enoch spots John and pulls out of my arms and turns to hug him, Xander doing the same.
“I’ve got you,” he says softly.
A man walks over to me. “Mr Anderson-Sherwood?”
I nod. “Yes.”
“I’m DCI Oram. We’re doing everything we can to find your husband. Your brothers memorised the van licence plate, so we’re running that at the moment. Do you have any idea who might have kidnapped him?”
Just then, Adhan joins me.
“Alpha,” the DCI says softly, holding his hand out.
Adhan shakes his hand. “Hi, Jack.”
“You know about our world?” I ask him.
The officer nods. “I used to live in Cadenbury.”
“I think Sly’s family kidnapped him. He’s from an original dark line of witches,” I tell him softly, as there are others around. “We had a run-in with one of his brothers at the weekend.”
“Do you know where they live or are staying?”
I shake my head. “No, he has nothing to do with his family, so he doesn’t talk about them,” I tell him.
DCI Oram nods. “We’re getting statements from everyone who saw what happened, hopefully that will tell us something, but I’ll keep you informed of our progress. If you find anything, let me know.” He pulls a card out of his pocket and hands it to me.
I take it and shove it in my pocket.
“Can you check the CCTV cameras and follow the van?” Adhan asks.
“My sergeant is getting the footage we need.”
“Thanks, Jack.”
The officer nods and walks away.
