He does and zooms in at the windows on one side then sets it back, he does the same on the other then zooms on the back. A kid is looking down the road then runs in the back door. Anton hits my leg and zooms in, showing me the door isn’t latched. “Good job, Anton!”
“Falcon, the back door isn’t latched. A kid just ran in, be prepared.”
“Thanks. I’m walking it now.” His cam shows the side of the building.
Anton pulls him to center screen. “Good, Anton. Get the front on the lower once he’s in and watch the back so no one surprises him.”
Web and Cort run in and stop, watching the screen in C.Falcon walks right in and Anton moves my screens. “Good, keep watch, little man.”
“Roger, Boss.”
Web laughs. I smile at the little guy. He’s cute. We hear kids yelling about taking back the streets as Falcon gets closer. The Brother is so quiet I’m not hearing him even breathe. His cam shows two kids Leo’s age sitting against the wall. I see Falcon’s arm. At a guess, he told them to stay quiet.
Falcon swings fast into a bare space and shoots rapid-fire in a line. “Falcon clear. Team One, come through the front door.”
“Roger, Boss.”
“Get someone on that back door, Falcon.”
“Roger, VP. Team One?”
“Got it, Boss.” An Enforcer runs the side of the building and stands readied.
I look at Anton. “You’re good on Ops, Anton. This wasn’t planned, but you rolled right with it. I’m glad you were here.”
He smiles and puts his fist out. I laugh and bump it.
When I turn, Cort is watching the city feed. I stay with Falcon until the Sheriff takes the kids out in cuffs. They thank Falcon getting a nod from him. He’s watching Pablo with the little kids. “What’s with the kids?” I ask.
“Pablo is waiting for a deputy to take statements from them. A female deputy will wait with them for their parents. Why aren’t the parents here? They’re not in school. Shouldn’t someone be calling them or something? Do they still have truant officers?”
“Budget cuts, Brother. The PD closed sending everything to the Sheriff. He’s got no money for truant officers.”
“I’ve got an hour until training. I’m going to the school to see why no call was made.”
“Roger, Falcon. Call in if we’re needed. Good job, Brother, that was some memorable shooting with the laser.”
He laughs. “We’re training for short bursts. It works. I’ll have something to tell the class. I’m on the side.”
“Roger.”
Anton clears the screen except for Team One. I watch the city. It looks like a normal Op.
Team One clears and I see the kids in a Sheriff’s car with the doors open. “Make your round, Team One.”
“Roger. Team One on the side, Ops.”
I hand my headset in and watch the city Enforcers clear. Hade talks to Jordan clearing us from their Ops.
I move to Cort’s side. “Something is up with Jordan and Ops.”
He nods pulling me to the computer on the side. “Get me Jordan on this, not the Ops screen.” I open the chat and watch the board. When Jordan moves to the computer, I open the video and stand up watching from the side.
Jordan sits.“Cort.”
“Is everything okay, Jordan?”
His hands swipe through his hair. “Two runs, the construction and fucking strip club brawl that spilled to us. I don’t have the Controls to run all this and I’m pulled everywhere when shit is going down. My head isn’t in this. I was an Enforcer, not Control. In the Ops room, I ran as Control IT Lead if I was needed.”
