I musta been staring, because after a moment, the beauty blinked at me, and I felt my signature smirk slide into place as I bent low, feelin’ my dick twitch as a blush crept up over her cheeks in that tempting, innocent spread I loved so much.
“Well, hey, sugar,” I drawled, letting my voice rumble outta me in that way I knew got panties damp. “Is this your first night in Vegas? If you’re lookin’ for a tour guide, I can show you the sights.” I licked my lips, wanting to make sure I worked every angle I had because there was no way this woman was gonna wind up anywhere but my bed tonight. “In fact, you might say I’m the best ride in town.”
I paused, waiting for the giggle I knew was about to follow my statement, the light laugh that women always threw at me when they liked what I was sayin’ and wanted to hear more.
But this woman—this stunning, breathtaking, heart-poundingly beautiful woman—she didn’t giggle.
No. This woman wrinkled her nose and frowned.
And, fuck me, but even that was gorgeous.
I watched as a small crease formed between her brows, her sweet lips pressing into a tight line, and she threw me a scowl that just about withered my fuckin’ balls.
Before I could say something to smooth that frown off her face, a hand appeared between us, and I looked up into the amused face of Vinnie as he stood, palm up, waiting for my taxi cab beauty to place her hand in his.
I didn’t like that one fuckin’ bit.
“Dr. Carmichael,” he said, his voice soft, but I could still hear the laughter.
And what the fuck? This was the doctor?
“Thank you for coming so quickly,” Vinnie continued, using his big shoulders to nudge me aside and making room for the doctor to get out of the cab. “I’ll take you to Mrs. Argenti now.”
“Excuse me,” she said, smugness creeping into her voice as she rose from the car, her body practically unfolding as she stood, her oversized purse following her out. She was fairly tall, coming high enough that I wouldn’t have to bend far to kiss her.
I liked that.
As I watched her walk away, following Vinnie at a brisk pace, I couldn’t help but notice how fantastic her ass looked in her faded jeans. Her caramel-colored hair was up, the thick bun at the back of her head letting me know there would be plenty to hold on to when the time came.
Because, I was fuckin’ hooked now.
I needed inside that woman. No question.
I laughed out loud, my blood fired up for the challenge I hoped this doctor was gonna present me. Shutting the door of the taxi, I started to follow them, but a shout from the cab driver caught my attention.
“Hey, buddy. Somebody better be payin’ me. I don’t drive for free, ya know.”
“You gotta be fuckin’ kidding me,” I muttered, reaching for my wallet and tossing the guy a Benjamin. “Keep the change and forget you were ever here. Ya get me?”
“Already forgotten,” the guy said, and sped off.
Back in the apartment, Lexi practically paced a hole in the carpet, chewing on her thumb nail and looking panicked. As I passed her, I dropped a hand on her shoulder and gave a squeeze.
“Don’t worry, Lexi,” I said gently. “I’m sure she’ll be just fine. I ain’t never seen a chick that tough.”
All I got back was a nod, but that was enough.
Pushing my way into the bedroom, I watched as Dr. Carmichael assessed Francesca—who was finally awake—getting all the info from Vinnie about nearly being hit by a van earlier in the day and then from Enzo about the second encounter atWrath.
“Wait,” Francesca cut in, turning to Enzo with a scowl. “Your fuck buddy Amber? What the hell does she have to do with this.”
I laughed, earning me my own scowl from Enzo, but I pushed right on. “Turns out Enzo’s scorned lover has a jealous streak.”
“Fuck off, Rock,” Enzo snarled before turning back to Francesca. “She’s got no reason to be jealous. I haven’t touched that bitch since before I went to New York.”
“Yeah.” I nodded, backing my boy up in his story. Nothing worse than a woman who thought you were a cheater when you weren’t. “Amber was already pissed about that, so is it any surprise shereallydidn’t like the announcement of your recent nuptials? No wonder she clocked you over the head with a bottle of champagne.” I cackled again, but it was cut off quickly when Dr. Carmichael shot me a glare.
Sheesh. Tough crowd.
