“Hey, don’t look at me.Iwasn’t expecting this either.”Duroc admitted.
“Surprises are rarelygood.”
“Let’s go and see who isalong for the ride.”
“Very funny.”Bindicommented.
They grabbed their luggage. She had alarge and a medium one while Duroc had a small one. That made sensesince he probably had clothes at his parent’s home.It was a shockthe see Damon and Marissa.
“You didn’t tell me.”Bindiaccused.
“I wasn’t sure if we weregoing and if we were on the plane, if we were going with you.”Marissa explained.“We do a lot of confidential stuff.”
“Okay.Since we’re about tobe on our way, can you tell me now?”
Marissa’s eyes went to Damon.“Only thebasics.”He said.
“We’re going to investigateyour former pack.Duroc’s pack has information as you do and that’swhere we’ll start.”Marissa explained.
Bindi paled.“I don’t have to see them,do I?”
“No, not now but eventuallyyou may.Was it that bad?”
“Only if you mind being acur.I was treated worse than the average dog.”
“Physically?”
“Beaten, but notraped.”
“That’s unusual.I wonderwhy?”Marissa speculated.
“Our pack alpha told themnot to.My father was his brother.Even the awfullest male usuallyleaves females alone until they are eighteen. But I matured fastand some of the males were watching me.”
“You think that’s why hemade you leave?”Damon asked.
“If he cared enough toworry about that, would he have made me leave with nothing?Theodds of survival aren’t that good.Did he think better dead thanmolested?I doubt that.”
“I see your point. Are yousure your mom is dead?”Damon asked softly.
“What do youmean?”
“You don’t know anythingabout her death.Usually, people will say how a parent died whenthey tell their child that they did.”
“These people rarely toldme anything. Most of what I know I heard from others talking.Theyprobably meant me to hear it.Some of the pack were hatefulpeople.”Bindi admitted.
“You think your dad wouldkill your mom?”Marissa asked.
“No, but the alphawould.”
“Did he resent human bloodmixing in with his bloodline?”
“I believe he did.”Bindiadmitted.
“Why didn’t he give you tothe human authorities?”
“Your guess is as good asmine.”
“Okay. We’ll have to trackhim down and ask him.”Damon decided.
