Page 87 of Antagonist
She walks to the door, but I stop her.
“What are you talking about? What does this have to do with Megan?”
She turns around. “I can’t believe you’re being this selfish. It’s really not like you, Harrison.”
“How am I selfish for wanting to be in a relationship? Should I remind you that you’re dating someone too?”
She stares at me like I’m the worst kind of human being. “So, not only are you moving to Boston and leaving Megan behind, but you’re also leaving Fletcher?”
If my head could spontaneously explode, I’m sure it would.
“Okay, first things first. Why do you think I’m moving to Boston?”
“I’m still close to Janet. Her husband saw a contract with your name on it.”
I take a long breath. “And you assumed I signed it?”
She shrugs. “You just said it's a done deal.”
“Because I thought you were talking about me and Fletcher. Which, by the way, how do you know?”
She beams. “I didn’t until just now, but I’ll take a guess that those are his shoes in the living room.”
“I think I’ve just lost six lives.” I lean against the hallway wall. “So you’re not upset that I’m with Fletcher?”
“Hell no. He’s great. And you’re not moving to Boston?”
I smile. “Not in my plans. Have you seen Fletcher’s ass? Why would I move away from that?”
“Good point, well made,” she says and gives me a tight hug. “I’m sorry I barged in like that. I hope I didn’t interrupt anything.” She stands back. “No. Don’t answer that. Your smile says it all. So what about the contract?”
“I trashed it. Stillwater is our home now.”
She gives me a kiss on the cheek and leaves.
I close my eyes and drop my head against the wall.
Warm hands wrap around my waist as Fletcher’s unmistakable scent surrounds me.
“I didn’t want to listen, but you weren’t exactly quiet. I may have lost a considerable amount of lives too, just listening to you, but I’m glad you’re not moving to Boston.”
I place my hands on his ass and lift him up, pressing him against the opposite wall.
He surrenders his mouth in a kiss that leaves me hard again.
“Can you stay the night?” I ask. “I’m not finished with you yet. Or me, for that matter.”
“So tempting, but I can’t. I have to pick up George, and I want to cook for him.”
“Okay, I’ll let you go in a minute.” I keep kissing his neck and everywhere my mouth can reach since my hands are busy holding his ass.
He giggles. “How about we take the kids to the cabin next weekend for a treasure hunt?”
I lift my head to look at him.
“I mean, we don’t have to tell them about…you know. Just as friends…for fun,” he says, blushing like never before.
“You’re so cute, you know that? I think it’s a great idea, and I don’t mind Megan knowing about us. If you want to keep it from George, I understand.”
