Page 74 of Antagonist
I stare at Harrison’s sleeping form next to me. He’s on his belly, and his perfectly round ass is barely covered by the bedcovers. I’d take a photo if I wouldn’t feel like a creep doing it without permission.
He stirs and searches for me.
“Hmm…morning, beautiful.”
“Your ass is beautiful. Can I take a photo? Pretty please?”
He chuckles. “Sure.”
I grab my phone, snap the photo, and put it back on the side table.
When I turn over, Harrison throws his leg over my waist, covering my body with his. His mouth searches mine, and I kiss him back.
He’s such a good kisser. Enough tongue to make you dizzy while pulling back always at the right time, savoring each kiss.
“Nowit’s a good morning,” he says, lying back down and pulling me with him so I’m half on top of him.
I want to ask him what happens now. Are we dating? Can we date? Most importantly, can we do this again? But I’m too terrified that he’ll freak out to ask him, so I get up and run to the kitchen, giving him orders to not get up.
I return, carrying a tray with fresh coffee and the two slices of cherry pie.
“Sex until we dropandbreakfast in bed? You know how to treat a guy,” he says.
“Don’t you forget it.”
After breakfast, Harrison helps me make the bed with fresh sheets. We clean everything up and head back to Stillwater.
“I had an amazing time this weekend, Fletcher,” he says, keeping his eyes on the road.
I’m not driving this time, so I get to watch him. “This is going to make me look like a sad loser, but I needed to get back into the game, you know? It’s been such a long time,” Harrison adds.
Back into the game.
My stomach drops. “Yeah, I get it…I don’t hook up that much these days. Life and all.”
He frowns a little like he's surprised by what I said, but then his face goes back to a neutral. We don’t talk much the rest of the way back. He parks in front of my garage and then surprises me by following me up to the door.
“You want to meet Rosie this time?” I say, not knowing what else to do to keep things light.
“No, thank you.” His eyes soften as he stares at me, and I can’t help leaning into his hand when he tucks my hair behind my ear.
“I knew there had to be a good excuse for you not to be home, but I didn’t think it would be the tall, dark, and handsome kind.”
I turn at the sound of the familiar voice.
“Fran.”
“Hey, baby,” she says.
“What are you doing here?”
She shrugs. “Coming to see my two boys, of course.”
I’m still in shock as she comes forward and hugs me. Her perfume is far too strong, so I take a step back once she releases me.
“George is at my parents'. I was about to go pick him up.”
She looks Harrison up and down and winks. “Of course you were.”
