“From what?”he asked, unconvinced.
“You guys will vanish after you either win or lose the war and new warriors will take your place,” she summed up.“All of the cambions will be turned into minions by our sires.Fate is giving all of us a way out.She didn’t choose couples randomly,” she explained intuitively.“We’re all designed to be a match even if it doesn’t seem like it at first.”
Hope shone from the knight’s obsidian eyes.“You feel the bond, too?”he asked.
“I’ve always felt it,” she admitted.“Our attraction was immediate. We’ve just been stubbornly ignoring it.”
“You don’t have any reservations about this?”he asked, searching her face for the truth.
“None at all,” Zoe replied, then changed her mind.“There is one small thing,” she added.“Scratch that,” she corrected herself.“There’s one big, and I meanreallybig thing that concerns me.”
Her gaze went to his groin and the knight laughed huskily in amusement.“Zoe, by the time I get to the point where I’m ready to enter you, you’ll be so delirious with passion that you’ll beg me to make you come,” he boasted.
Heat rushed to her face and other parts of her body.“I don’t want to get naked with you here,” she said, feeling breathless.“There’s still a bad vibe in this place.”
“Camriel and Grace will be gone for another hour or more,” he said, standing and offering her his hand.
“How can you predict that?”she asked skeptically as he tugged her to her feet.
“I just sent him a message to stay away,” he replied, tapping his temple, then tugged her after him as he strode towards the exit.
They stopped long enough to grab the medical supplies she’d gathered.Closing the door to the resort, they stashed the containers on the back seat, then climbed in and sped back to their base.Amaros parked beneath the trees and made sure the tarp was covering their pilfered goods. They left the containers on the back seat and hurried inside.
“This is the room I wanted to claim when we first arrived,” Amaros said when they reached her bedroom.
“I beat you to it,” she said in a mock gloating tone.Nervous butterflies were swirling around in her stomach. It had been two years since her brief and unsatisfying encounter with the guy she’d slept with. This time, it was going to be very different. She wasn’t just attracted to Amaros, she had genuine feelings for him.
“I wanted to claim it for both of us,” he confessed.“I pictured us gazing out through the window at the view.”
They glanced at the plain wooden board they’d erected.“Grace told me I wouldn’t be alone in here for long,” Zoe told him.“I didn’t expect her to turn out to be right so soon.”
“Let’s not waste any more time and claim this bedroom for the both of us right now,” he said, then bent to kiss her.
The light brush of his lips against hers was more erotic than her deepest fantasies.“More,” Zoe demanded.
He chuckled in masculine triumph, then pulled her tight against him.“Your wish is my command,” he murmured, then proceeded to thoroughly kiss his cambion.
