He smirks and goes in for another kiss. “We could be surrounded by people, and I still wouldn’t stop.”

Why is that so hot? The idea of people watching what he does to me.

How he makes me feel. Maybe it’s because I spent so much time watching him from afar.

That I always wondered what it would be like to be the center of his attention.

To know that others can look from the outside in, the same way I did for years, but no one… No. One. Can do what he does to me.

Please let the feeling be mutual.

“Jaxon.” I squeeze my eyes shut in an attempt to block out the world until there’s only me and him, even if it’s just for a little while.

“Don’t worry.” He circles my entrance, then presses his thumb against my clit. “The only person who gets to see you like this is me. Ever ,” he growls as his fingers continue thrusting in and out of me.

And maybe it’s his words. The idea of him wanting to be the only person who ever sees me like this.

The idea of him being the only person to ever make me feel this way.

It’s enough to make me shatter into a million pieces, well aware he’s the only one who can make me feel this way.

Act this way. Be this way. Wanton and careless. Reckless. Needy.

I can feel it. The need. With every sweep of his touch, it builds at my core, bringing me higher and higher until I squeeze my eyes shut even tighter and push into his hold, not giving a shit about what’s going on outside this car. Only the way he’s making me feel in this moment. Seen. Appreciated.

“That’s it, Beautiful. I can feel how tight you are. How much you want this. My fingers inside of you.” He bends closer over the center console. “Want to know a secret? Just wait ‘til it’s my cock.”

Falling apart at his words, I come against his fingers as he swallows my moans with his mouth, kissing me with so much fervor I could come again if he keeps doing this.

Sweat beads along my hairline, and my breath comes out in unsteady pants as I slowly force my eyes open, fighting against the embarrassment threatening to take hold.

I cannot believe we did that. In his freaking truck.

With a small smile, he pulls his fingers from between my thighs and brings them to his mouth. “Told you I could be nice.”

A laugh slips out of me before I can stop it. I playfully shove him back to his side of the truck. “You’re ridiculous.” My head hits the headrest again, and I sigh. “And also really good at that finger thing.”

His low chuckle is raspy and light, and I swear I can feel him looking at me, but I don’t open my eyes to check. I’m too busy basking in the afterglow of a seriously good orgasm.

“Mmm,” I hum. “You know, if I smoked, I’d say this is a perfect time to light up.

” I peel my eyes open and roll my head toward him.

“Isn’t that what they do in the movies? Either that or…

” I hesitate, sneaking a peek at his groin area where a massive bulge is outlined.

“Return the favor? Because I’m pretty sure I owe you two times now. ”

He shifts forward in the seat, blocking my clear view of his arousal. “You don’t owe me anything.”

“Jax—”

“The opportunity to touch you already makes me feel like the luckiest bastard on the planet.”

It’s a compliment, but it’s also only a half-truth. I can see it in his eyes. “But I’m not allowed to touch you?” I challenge .

“You can touch me anytime you want, though I have a feeling we’ve already pushed our luck in the parking lot.”

I glance around the area, grateful it’s still relatively empty even if the man makes a good point. “Then you should take me somewhere,” I decide.

“Rore.”

“Jax.”

“I don’t want to pressure you.”

“You’re not.”

“I’m not?”

“No, you’re not, I promise.”

He doesn’t look convinced, but he does cave, muttering, “Good.”

“Good,” I toss back at him.

“So, now that we both agree I’m not pressuring you…” His lips curve up on one side as if he’s fighting back his smirk. “I believe you mentioned you’re a terrible liar.”

Fighting my blush—because I most definitely am a terrible liar—I hold onto my sass and say, “And?”

“And it got me curious…have you told anyone? About me and you?”

I shake my head.

“Not a soul?” he pushes. “Not even…Tatum?”

Tatum? Did he really have to call me out so blatantly? I mean, it’s Tatum. Of course, I told her. Unable to hide the truth, my face bunches, and I roll my head forward, letting my light hair block me from his view.

With a bellow of laughter, he says, “I knew it!”

I smack his chest. “Oh, shush. You know nothing?—”

He grasps my wrist. “I know I like you.”

He likes me?

He likes me.

He likes me.

My stupid heart skips a beat as his confession hangs between us, and I fight to hold his gaze.

Because I get it now. The difference. When I was younger, he never looked at me like this.

I mean, he looked at me. But before, it was so…

platonic, I guess? Genuine, definitely. But now, there’s a sprinkle of something else.

Something more. Something that turns the butterflies into a giant albatross, and I can’t help but feel…

lucky. Lucky that, even though it was a bumpy as hell ride, we still somehow found ourselves here.

Like this. Now, I’m not stupid enough to believe he’s going to propose next week or something.

We haven’t even voiced our wants and needs for whatever this is.

But that sprinkling of actual intimate interest?

The fact it matches my own thoughts and feelings that I’ve kept buried for as long as I can remember? I like it. I like it a lot.

“Nothing to say, Beautiful?” Jaxon prods. “Do I need to go back on the whole not pressuring you part? Am I coming on too strong?”

“Not at all,” I rush out. “Just trying to piece together past Jaxon and current Jaxon and the way you’re looking at me right now.”

His gaze softens even more. “And how am I looking at you?”

“Like you like me,” I answer.

The same curve of his lips spreads over his handsome features. “I mean, I did just tell you I like you.”

“I know.” I take a deep breath. “And I, uh, I like you, too. Which you already knew, but…”

“It’s nice to hear it out loud every once in a while,” he murmurs. A warmth hits his gaze, making it hard to breathe.

“And I’m sorry I told Tate,” I add.

“Don’t be.” He brings my hand to his mouth and kisses my knuckles just like when he touched me in my parents’ backyard. “I like that you have someone to tell. Someone you trust. ”

“What about you?” I prod. “Do you have someone you trust?”

He lifts a shoulder and pulls out of the parking spot. “To be honest, the only person I’ve ever fully trusted with something like this is…” His eyes cut to mine. “You.”

And damn, if it isn’t the sweetest thing he’s ever said.
