Page 62 of A Chance at Redemption for the Alpha
The sun…
…is rising.
Fuck!
I told Silas I would be home around midnight. I broke my word. Trying not to alert my new friends and pull them into my drama, I explain to them that I always like to walk home after a night out, to get some fresh air or rather let my wolf out – something Nova and one of her guy friends agree with – before I leave them, trying not to look like I’m in a hurry.
Only when I am out of sight do I pick up my pace and start running. My breath hitches, and the closer I get to the pack, the more blurred my sight gets. It’s like I can’t see or hear anymore, while my stomach churns and turns.
Fuck, they will kill me. Marcellus will kill me.

An Alpha is an Alpha
*MARCELLUS*
Ipace around while emptying the coffee that Silas handed me. My mate just frowns at me. “You know I put effort into making this coffee? It had the perfect milk foam art on it!”
“Do you think something happened to Benj?” I ask. “I am starting to get worried.”
Silas laughs. “He is out with Nova. Cassian told me she is a party girl. I’ll bet he is having fun.”
“But you told me, he said he would be back around midnight. Maybe there was an attack!”
“Sure, Grandpa,” Silas teases.
“I am being serious!”
“I know, which doesn’t make it better,” he sighs. “The two of them took off around 8 PM, and I called bullshit on them only staying for four hours. I was just so glad that Benjamin, for once, decided to go out that I didn’t call him out on it. Seriously, I just wanted him to go.”
“Maybe you are right,” I concede, gazing at my empty cup. “Do you have more of that coffee?”
Silas’s eyebrow starts ticking. “The audacity, after you ignored the latte art!”
“Oh no, I really loved it,” I hurry to say. “Was very pretty.”
“Alright, then what did I make?” he asks.
Oh shoot. I have no idea. “A wolf?” I ask.
“A rose, you brute,” he groans, fetching the cup. “I swear if you don’t admire the second one, I am not sucking your dick tonight.”
My head perks up. “Oh, so if I admire it, you will?”
Silas looks annoyed, but I can’t tell if he is pissed at me or at himself. Amos finds him adorable when he is annoyed, but I decide not to tease him further. With Silas, the line between annoyed and angry is a thin one, and obviously, I still want him in a good mood. I always want him to be in a good mood and happy. “So, you don’t think I should send warriors to look for Benj?” I ask instead.
Silas sighs. “You are really that worried?”
“You never know,” I mutter.
“Man, you always have problems letting go of your big brother role. If you ask me, I think he is just out, having fun, probably for the first time in his life,” Silas emphasizes. “But if it truly worries you, we could send Micah to subtly check on him. But I don’t want-“
He doesn’t get to finish his sentence, because right at that moment Benjamin barges through the back door, leading into the kitchen, almost knocking Silas over. His heart is racing, mywolf senses easily take it up, also his breathing is ragged, and he looks like a mess.
Fuck! Did something happen?!
I jump up to my feet. “What happened?” I blurt out.
