Page 138 of A Chance at Redemption for the Alpha
“This is it, time to clean my bloodline,” Aloysius says.
“But…” Durant protests. “You said you would banish her.”
“I will. Banish her to her creator,” Aloysius snickers.
The sick bastard! She is just a child, and he talks about killing her as if she were a disposable object. As if she weren’t a living, breathing being!
“Right now?” Durant asks.
“Of course, now! I will not take any chances on my brother finding her. Most of the others are useless. But Silas isn’t. He is smart and cunning.”
I can hear Maddie’s crying getting louder. She is mumbling something inaudible, as if she is gurgling. Okay, that’s it. Time’s running out! I hope Nova made it to Silas and Marcellus, because I am certainly not waiting any longer.
Without waiting a second longer, I dash forward and rip the door open. For a split second, the two men look utterly surprised to see me. Durant looks shocked, anxious even, and I easily push past him, using the momentum to rip Maddie out of Aloysius’s hands. That asshole had his hands around her throat. She is coughing now and clinging to me.
“And now what, wolf?” Aloysius asks darkly. “I will kill you with ease, and then I will kill the kid. You have no chance against me!”
He isn’t wrong. I have no chance against him. But my wolf senses take something up, apresence. So that’s how it feels. Without Stellan, I wasn’t able to notice it to this extent, but now I can detect it… my alpha is approaching. I hold Maddie tighter, making my decision within seconds.
“I can’t stop you,” I say. “But they will be able to.”
Before he can as much as lift a finger, I rush to the window, throwing myself against it. I hold Maddie tight to my chest, protecting her with my body as I take the fall for both of us, hoping that this stunt will give Silas the time he needs. Hoping they will reach Maddie before Aloysius can.

Brothers II
*SILAS*
We bumped into Nova only a couple of minutes ago. The smart kids managed to come up with a plan for her escape. I have never felt prouder of a member of my coven and pack before than I am of Benjamin right now. This kid truly stepped up! Nova has shown us immediately where to head to, giving us exact details on what to expect and how to find Maddie.
“Juniper told me to tell you, it’s not her who betrayed you,” Nova hurries to explain while she runs alongside me. “She also asked to please spare Atticus as long as he doesn’t attack you directly.”
“What?” Julianus asks, dumbfounded. He has taken his place next to Nova, holding her hand possessively while running nextto her. In any other situation, it would be funny to see Cassian toss an annoyed gaze at him, but right now, there are more pressing matters to tend to.
“Isn’t that your brother’s most entrusted ranked member, Lord Silas?” Eugene calls out.
“I hate to admit it, but he is. Are you sure that that’s what Juniper said?”
“Yes, he is her baby’s father, and she doesn’t want him killed,” Nova explains. “But she also said she won’t stop anyone if he makes the wrong decision and still stands in your way. She said her loyalty will always be with you.”
“Sounds like Juni,” Marcellus mutters.
“But if it wasn’t her who betrayed us, who was it?” Cassian asks.
I don’t say anything, as I don’t have it in me to answer. Nova’s words just broke my heart a little bit. I glance at Alex, who wears a grim expression, but there is a flash of hurt in his eyes. There is only one person who has such vast knowledge, aside from Juniper, and that’s Durant. My own brother. I don’t know what Aloysius told him and how he manipulated him, but Durant has made his decision, as painful as it is.
“I got the picture now,” I say. “I will run ahead.”
“I am with you,” Alex agrees.
Julianus looks torn, and I decide to take the decision from him. “You stay with your beloved and your future alpha,” I tell him. “Your loyalties are with them, and that’s okay.”
Nova peers at him, blushing slightly when Julianus nods.
I will be right behind you,Marcellus links me.Be careful.
I will.
