“Talking about the little devil,” Silas’ voice interrupts us. “Here she is.”

Maddie comes running towards us on her little legs, basically ignoring everyone and going straight to Milo. “We are going toplay,” she says. After her traumatic abduction, she has recovered pretty quickly. It helped that Dominic and Milo are here now for distraction, and are obviously smitten with her. Equally, she can look out for Lily like a surrogate older sister. I know for a fact that the bond to our families, even chosen ones, can help the healing process so much.

Marcellus takes Silas’ hand, leading him to the benches and tables the pack has prepared, with the scent of barbecue hanging in the air already.

Lily has one of her hands clutched into Marcellus’ shirt, while the other arm reaches out for Silas until he takes it and kisses it, making loud smooching sounds. As expected, Lily bursts into giggles.

Alex has a thoughtful look on his face when he watches his brother and his little family. “I never thought I would live to see this,” he admits. “Interesting how much a person and their fate can change.”

“It’s possible for you, too, Lord Alexander,” Lucian says. “I guess it’s possible for all of us. Right, Benji?”

I nod, entwining my fingers with Lori’s. “It is.”

In a couple of years, when Lori and I are ready, I will build a family with her and become the father I never had. I will make sure to love and protect my family, and work to give them the best life possible, with as much love as I can give.

I know for a fact that Lori has the same dream.
