"Are you serious?" I say, and he grins.
"It's important to ask," he says.
I nod, a little overwhelmed by the whole thing.

"What are you thanking me for?"

He leans down and brushes his lips against mine.
"You're welcome," he says.
We lay together for a while, his hands and mouth on me, exploring.
"Cole?" I say.

"That was slow and careful?"
He pauses, throws his head back and laughs. He rolls over onto his back, his arms around me taking me with him. His hand strokes my hair, keeping my cheek pressed to his chest.
I relax against him and listen to his heart beating, the deep rumble of his laughter.
"Yes," he says, still chuckling. "Believe it or not, that was slow and careful."
