Story: The Midseason Fakeout
“Well, I carried a watermelon.”
She throws her head back and laughs. “You, QB1, carry a football. And you’re damn good at it, too.”
She takes my hand to spin out and then back in. I watch the way she moves with admiration as she edges closer. “Where’s the scared girl from five minutes ago?” I ask, almost unable to believe it myself.
“She realized she only has one chance.”
I hope she’s not serious. It would be a shame for the world to never see this side of Bailey Covington again.
Turning, she plants her ass in my crotch, continuing her sultry hip movements. My dick responds in kind. No matter how much I tell it to go back down, it’s soon unavoidable.
Bailey doesn’t stop, though, until I’m pressing against my jeans and, in turn, pressing against her shapely ass. She turns around again, and I pull her close. The whole quad doesn’t need to see how turned on I am right now.
“Is that a watermelon in your pants? Or are you just happy to see me?” she breathes, staring up at me through full lashes.
“Wrong shape,” I tell her, my voice suddenly deeper as we stare one another down. “I hope there was something on your list about making a guy hard in a public place.”
“Well, I’m definitely going to add it now and check it off.”
“Evil,” I whisper into her ear.
She shakes with laughter. My dick throbs. We keep grinding against one another until I run my hands through her hair, bringing her face up to look at me.
Just as quickly, I look away. I don’t know what I’m doing. This wasn’t my intention when I asked her to put herself out there.
Instead of taking it where I want to, I tell her, “We need to stop.”
“Oh.” Disappointment rings through her tone. “Yeah, of course,” she says, stepping away.
I hold on to her hand. “Not too far away. I need you to hide me.”
She glances down, and I see the rounding of her eyes in real time.
The Aidan who didn’t decide to give up girls a few days ago wants to keep going, but this is also Darrin’s little sister. Not to mention a complication. The very thing I swore off of in front of all of my teammates. No more hookups. No more distractions. They’re counting on me.
I grab her hands and hold them between us. All around us, bodies still dance. It’s like we’re the calm inside the chaos, but my mind doesn’t have the same peace.
It goes back to Bailey saying she watched me go skinny dipping from her bedroom window, and I wonder if I would’ve noticed her if she was more like the girl in front of me. Free. Spirited. A down-to-earth girl who likes to have fun.
Before I can travel further down that road, I say, “We need to check more things off your list,” only because it’s something to distract me from my thoughts.
She grins. “Thank you for pushing me out of my comfort zone. That was so much fun.”
I shrug, making it like it was no big deal. I don’t answer because it’s getting harder to hear her now that we’re not caught up in the party. The music seems loud and obnoxious. Reaching down, I rearrange my jeans to make things more comfortable. “I think I’m okay now.”
The cutest red dots appear on both her cheeks. “Does that mean you owe me two debts of gratitude?”
“How’s that?”
“One for giving you a hard-on, and the other for helping you hide it while it went away.”
“I’m pretty sure they negate each other,” I tell her, leading her out of the horde of dancers. “Plus, I prefer my erections to go away for different reasons.”
Bailey makes a noise and then starts to choke. I pull her to my side and pat her back. She coughs into her hand, and when she’s finally calmed down enough, she studies me with tears in her eyes. “Sorry, something got caught in my throat.”
There are just too many comments to make to that statement, so I shut my mouth.
We’re almost to our stuff when Darrin appears, waving at us. “Bails! Aidan!” He runs up, then peers at the group. “Man, I love college. I swear the hottest girls are dancing over there.”
She throws her head back and laughs. “You, QB1, carry a football. And you’re damn good at it, too.”
