Story: Mated to the Kings
“Woah, woah, woah,” Daemon says as he grabs my ankle and pulls me to the end of the bed so Callum can keep me still.
“What was that?” Kael asks as he sits beside me and brushes my hair out of my face.
“I don’t know,” I say after a moment when the red glow dissipates. “I’m sorry I freaked out.”
“It’s okay,” he smiles. “It started when you started to come.”
“Also, can we talk about whatever the hell it was that you were thinking?” Callum asks.
“Right… I think that was a… vision… or something,” I say.
“That was a war, Lilith. Are you sure?” Daemon asks.
“I… I think so. I’ve never had a vision before, but I know witches can have them. I know I need to get back to that library, though.”
“When we get back tonight, we can go hang out for a while,” he says. “How do you feel? You were glowing.”
“I… I don’t even know what that was,” I say. “My brain is hazy now.” I lay back on the bed and run my hands down my face.
“Are you sure your mom was completely a witch?” Daemon asks.
“I guess. I’ve never met her outside of that dream,” I say. “Why?”
“What did she look like?” he continues.
“Blonde hair and short. Looks about my age. I think she was around my age when she disappeared,” I say. “Again. Why?”
“Did she say anything about your father then?” Callum asks.
“She said that I favor him. Why are you asking about my father?”
“Lilith… The only time I have even known of someone to do… that… was a succubus,” he says.
“What the fuck is that?” I ask with a frown.
“It’s a female demon who feeds off sexual energy. The male equivalent is an incubus,” Daemon says. “The females are said to have long black hair. They are rare, but when an incubus mates, it generally results in witches or demons. If he mated with a witch… You may be both, and mating triggered that part of you.”
“I read once that they also have wings. It works like shifting for us,” Kael says. “We studied the species of the world before we came into power, and succubi came up once.”
“Also,” Daemon says with a smirk. “Do you want to know the name of the woman who was thought to be the first succubi?”
“Sure,” I sigh.
“Lilith,” he says. “She was created from her hatred of serving men.”
“Holy shit,” I say. “So…”
“So that is either a huge coincidence, or your parents had an idea of what your life would be like. She told you about the prophecy and you being assaulted, so it’s likely she knows how your life has been up until now.”
“So… My parents knew I was half succubi, and half witch, so they named me after the first succubi?” I ask.
“Looks that way,” Kael says. “Turns out being a smartass is hereditary.”
“Why doesn’t this freak you guys out?”
“Well, now I know I can make you glow when you come, so I’m going to keep doing that,” Daemon says, and I laugh.
“Gods…” I sigh.
