Story: Enzo
Her brows dip.“You’re a scout. You’re made to fight vampires.”
“Exactly. You have a mate with the ability to fight vampires and you have the skill. Take it from me,”I tell her.“Take whatever you need from me. Use your gift to borrow mine.”
Her eyes widen.
“Take mine too,”Chayton says, joining our conversation. “We’re your pack. Use us. Finish this.”
“You heard him, Baby. Use us, because I’m not leaving this cabin without you and my pup.”
A single red tear slips down her cheek. I wait to hear her response. However, I don’t get one verbally. Suddenly, I feel a little weak. I sway on my feet, but don’t go down.
“Talon,” Markis yells. “Start the ceremony. You can stand and watch me reunite with my mate.”
He turns to face Michaela. She smiles as her eyes glow light brown. Her blades shoot from her cuffs and into his chest. He shoves her away. She spins around, her dress twirling like a ballerina, when she stops, she holds her blades out at her side with a smirk.
“You want to try this again,” Markis snarls. “This time, I’m going to kill you and then your fucking mutt.”
He charges her. She runs toward him. Before they can crash into each other, she leaps into the air as a vampire and comes down as a petite brown wolf.
“Oh fuck,” I say out loud.
“Mine,”my wolf pants in my head.
“How the hell is that possible?”Chayton asks. “And can she loan the ability to Liz for a day?”
I don’t respond to him because I can’t take my eyes off my mate. Markis tries to charge toward her again. She moves like a blur around him. She darts out of his path in wolf form, only to turn into a vampire to slice into him. They play cat and mouse for a while. He tries to grab her, and she moves between forms like a blur, taking slices out of him with each transformation.
A few of the other vampires look around nervously as if they are going to step in, but a simple growl from us has them staying put.
When Tech first suggested the plan, I thought he was crazy. Something so simple couldn’t work. But he was right. We didn’t need to run in guns blazing with a bunch of complicated strategies, we just needed to give Michaela another reason to keep fighting.
A whimper from Markis has me tuning back in. The vampire is so bloody and weak, he drops to his knees. His black tux is tattered and covered in blood.
“Mizani,” he calls out to her. “Please. If you kill me, you lose your chance at what you want. Only I know how to use the power of the fey to get you what you truly desire.”
She slowly walks over to him. Stopping in front of him, she squats down to get eye level.
“Turns out, I don’t need a key to have a baby. The wolf took care of that.”
Markis’s eyes widen and he turns to me.
I smirk and wink at him. She lifts her arm, and with quickness, her blade slices through his neck, cutting off his head. His body falls to the ground. The five remaining vampires once again look around the room nervously.
“You should run,” Michaela says without looking at them. They take off out the door.
“Don’t let them make it out of the woods,” Chayton commands the scouts with us.
They all transform and rush out after the vampires.
Immediately, I feel my strength returning.
“Thank you. All of you. You didn’t have to do this. I promise my sister and I will get out of your hair.” she says.
“What are you talking about?” Chayton asks with his brow lifted. “You’re not going anywhere.”
“Right,” Zyion adds. “You’re one of us now.”
She smiles, but it doesn’t reach her eyes. “That’s sweet guys. But really, I need to leave.”
