“I want to do something, but I’d like your opinion first, since it affects both of us.”
Zoey’s spine straightened, and she eagerly leaned toward us. “Okay.”
“What do you think about Wren moving in with us?”
For a second, Zoey didn’t react, and I thought my Christmas gift was going to implode. Then she squealed and threw both of her arms around us.
“Is that a yes?” I teased.
“It’s a super-duper yes, Daddy!” She let go of us and did a little wiggle dance and gave us a satisfied smirk. “That Santa works fast.”
“Wait. What?” Wren asked.
“My wish.” Zoey shrugged as though it wasn’t a big deal. “It was for you to live with us forever. Santa said he’d do what he could. Next year I should ask for a pony if he can make last minute requests like this happen.”
A strangled laugh left me and I hoped I’d have more restraint by next year in always giving Zoey what she wanted.
“Oh, Zo. This has made me so happy,” Wren sniffed.
Zoey threw herself at Wren and the two rocked side to side as they hugged. “Me too.”
I didn’t know what kind of karma allowed me to have this moment and the future I saw spread out before us, but I’d make sure to appreciate it. Now that Wren agreed, my goal was to have her moved in by the end of the weekend. We had the Winter Festival to oversee, but we could hire movers.
Zoey wiped away a few tears and stepped to the side. “Maybe we should get the doughboys now to celebrate.”
“I think that’s a great idea,” I said.
“Come on, Jen.” Zoey grabbed her hand, and they flew off to the food vendors’ section.
I took Wren’s hand in my own as we followed at a slower pace. “Who would have thought?”
“That her wish was for us to move in together?” Wren shook her head. “I’d never have guessed that.”
We walked in silence. I loved that we didn’t need to fill it with conversation and that we could just enjoy being in each other’s presence. I saw my immediate future with Wren and the next few years in a blink of an eye and knew this was my perfect forever.
And maybe that proposal would happen sooner rather than later. I finally understood how Grayson knew almost instantly that Ruby was his. It might have taken me longer to come to a similar conclusion, but the results were the same. Wren and I were two halves of a whole. I knew it deep inside at a cellular level.

Christmas Day
“Santa came!” The screech sounded right next to my ear as a body thudded on top of me.
“Oof!” I opened my eyes to see Zoey half sprawled on top of me and half on Beckett.
Her knee dug into my ribs as she climbed to her feet and jumped on the bed. “Get up. Get up. Get up!”
“Are you sure you’re ready for all this?” Beckett asked me in that low, sexy-sleepy voice that made my toes curl.
I turned my head, still resting on my pillow, to whisper in his ear. “More than ready.”
I’d been moving my stuff in gradually since the Winter Festival last week. I’d decided to leave most of my furniture since Mia was acquiring my lease and had no time to shop for any of her own just now.
A smile stretched across his face. He reached over and cupped my chin. My breath caught in my throat at the heady desire sparking in his eyes. I hoped we always felt this way toward each other. He leaned in and softly kissed my lips before pulling back. “Merry Christmas.”
Zoey stopped jumping long enough to let out an excited scream that echoed in the room. “Smoochy kiss!” she chanted. I’d been worried about how she’d react to Beckett being affectionate towards me in front of her—and sleeping in his bed. I needn’t have worried. She was delighted about it, and over the past week made requests of us to “smoochy kiss” and giggled uncontrollably while we accommodated her.
