Warrant
T he sound that Riggs made when he saw his son walking between me and Pyre was more wounded animal than human.
Someone had rung the kid’s bell pretty good.
He had varying degrees of bruises, indicating that someone had beat him more than once.
His left eye was swollen shut and ringed with black and purple, but otherwise he had an air of determination about him.
And as I had witnessed first hand, he still had a lot of fight left in him.
But as soon as he saw his father he lost all that teenage bravado and ran at Riggs. They hit hard enough for me to wince and Riggs lifted him in the air in a rib crushing hug.
If there was any doubt in anyone’s mind whether Jared was Riggs’s kid, just because he was adopted, watching this reunion would put those thoughts to rest. It was obvious the man was willing to do whatever was necessary for Jared. That he was as much his son as Aella was his daughter.
All of the Austin guys looked damn relieved to have found Jared. Hell, all of us were. None of us liked how long it took to track him down. Now that we’d found him, we could fucking breathe again.
Riggs finally let Jared go. The kid was tall and lanky, but nowhere as tall as his father. The guy gave Demo a run for his money in the size department.
“Aella,” Jared said, panic crossing his features. “They took her away a few days ago-”
“She’s safe,” Riggs reassured him. “We found her and she’s staying with a friend.”
Jared’s sigh was one hundred percent relief. His shoulders slumped as he nodded.
“Who did that to you?” I asked, jerking my chin at him. Then I pointed to where the remaining men who were still alive were tied up.
Jared’s eyes skimmed over the five men—most were already dead and their bodies piled up in the corner. “He’s not here. Their leader showed up about half an hour before you did and took half the crew with him.”
Cypher frowned. “Half? Where the fuck did they get all these guys from. Certainly not Sentinel. Do you know where they were going?”
Jared shook his head. “He said something about leverage.”
“The fuck does that mean?” Jury asked.
Glitch sighed in frustration. “Do you know why they took you in the first place?”
“They wanted me to sign something,” he said with a shrug.
“Wouldn’t let me read it or explain what it was.
All I knew was they wanted me to sign, so I refused.
They realized after they sent Aella away they’d sent away the only way they could get me to go along with them.
” He pointed to his eye. “Then they tried this way. Tied me up and…” He glanced over at his dad, but at Riggs’s nod he continued, “They beat me until I was unconscious. Anyway, they messed up by sending Aella away before bringing the papers in.”
He grinned, then winced as his lip split open again. He sucked on it to keep the blood from running down his face. “I didn’t tell them shit or sign shit.”
“I’m going to rip their heads off,” Riggs muttered.
“We can rip one of their dicks off and shove it down the hole that’s left over,” Pyre offered.
Everyone stared at him. He shrugged. “Most men would consider that a pretty horrific way of defiling their corpse. Sounds to me like they deserve the worst of the worst after what they’ve done to these kids.”
“He’s not wrong,” Demo said in a hesitant tone.
“I like him,” Butcher declared with a grin. “I’m not touching any of their dicks, though. Probably diseased.”
“Couldn’t pay me to touch any of that shit,” Hush added.
“Most of them are probably so small it wouldn’t do much defiling,” Toxic mused.
Cynic laughed and slapped his cousin on the shoulder. “Look at their faces.”
We all glanced over to the guys who were still alive. Some were white in the face at our conversation and some looked pissed.
“Guess we know who has the tiny cocks,” Torque said with a chuckle as he pointed at the two guys who were obviously pissed at us for making fun of their junk.
“Will your friend watch over both kids while we hunt down the rest of the crew?” Steel asked, looking over at me.
“Yeah,” I replied, knowing I was going to have to make it up to Ainsley big time, but that she wasn’t going to turn away a boy who’d had the shit kicked out of him. Her sense of justice would win out. Though, I was pretty sure she had a soft heart under her tough outer shell, too.
“You’re not actually going to cut their dicks off are you?” Rotor asked with a frown as Pyre pulled out a knife.
“Fuck yeah I am,” Pyre said, giving him a look like he was the crazy one.
“Pretty sure he’s cut off every part of the human body during his training with the Navy,” Scythe replied.
Pyre put the blade between his teeth as he pulled his long hair up into a bun so it wouldn’t get in his way as he worked.
“Fucking gross. I hope you washed that the last time you used it,” Demo said as his top lip curled up in disgust. “Who the fuck knows where it’s been.”
“It’s my knife. I know where it’s been,” Pyre said after he grabbed the knife from between his teeth.
“Not sure I trust your judgement on cleanliness after watching that,” Jury told him, clearly in full agreement with Demo.
“I was a fucking Navy Hospital Corpsman,” Pyre growled, scowling at them. “I was trained by the best of the best. Fucking peak of medical knowledge-”
“Doesn’t mean you’re not fucking disgusting for putting that knife in your mouth,” Glitch interrupted.
Cypher’s hand shot out and grasped Pyre by the shoulder, stopping his main enforcer from going after the hacker. “Knock it the fuck off,” he grunted. “We have shit to do. Just because we found the boy-”
“Hey!” Jared barked, glaring at Cypher. “I’m almost sixteen.”
“And he did choke a fucker out,” I told him.
Jared stood a little taller. “That’s right.”
Riggs patted him on the back. Pride was written all over his face.
“You know, then promptly got stuck under said fucker,” I teased. Jared slumped, but everyone laughed.
Cypher eyed him. “Right.” He focused back on his men. “We still have to find the rest of these assholes and put them in the ground so they never have the chance to go after Riggs’s family again.”
“You think they would?” Axel asked.
I glanced over at him. “Holy shit!”
“Shut the fuck up,” he said in a weary voice, but his lips twitched upward. He knew what was coming.
“Where the fuck did you come from?” I asked with a chuckle.
“I’m going to start hitting you in that pretty fucking face every time I walk into the room,” he threatened. “Then you’ll remember I’m here.”
“These guys are fun,” Butcher announced, looking between us all. “I get to carve some of these assholes up too, right?”
“Uh,” Jury looked over and made a face. “There’s only five of them.”
“We don’t really like sharing,” Rotor added. “Cypher, you’re not going to make us share are you?”
“They have more than one body part to cut off,” Toxic pointed out. “Let the big guy have some fun.”
“I’ll share mine with him,” Glitch offered. “He can have some fingers or something.”
Cypher shook his head, but he wouldn’t dissuade us from carving the men up like Thanksgiving turkeys. It was our reward for chasing these assholes all over Sentinel.
“You’re actually going to-” He paused as I moved forward.
I took my knife out of its sheath on my belt, grabbed the closest guy’s ear, and sawed through the cartilage and bone while he howled in pain and protest. Once my blade made it all the way through, I eyed the ear, then tossed it to Demo.
“You can have the rest. We need to go drop Jared off with Ainsley.”
“Aren’t you going to bring that to Ainsley?” Pyre asked.
“Hmm…” I thought about it for a second, then shook my head. “I think I’ve brought her enough surprises this week.” Besides, I wasn’t fully sure how my woman would react to receiving an ear as a present. Something told me it wouldn’t be a positive reaction.
“Jesus fucking Christ,” Steel muttered as he and Axel watched my brothers descend on the men tied up, like a pack of feral animals. We sort of were. But only to those who were enemies of our club. Everyone else was safe from our darker urges.
“Let’s go,” Riggs said, turning Jared around and walking him toward the door of the barn.
“Kid’s going to have nightmares for a month,” Steel muttered.
“ I’m going to have fucking nightmares,” Riggs countered.
They both looked at Axel. He just shrugged. “Grew up in a cartel family, remember? I’ve seen a lot worse than an ear being cut off.”
Screams followed us out of the barn.
“Yeah, that’s closer to what I remember,” Axel said with a nod.
“Fucking crazy motherfuckers,” Steel said with a laugh. “Glad you’re on our side.”
“Always,” I said with a grin. “You need anything in the future, you only need to ask.”
We got on our bikes and I led the way, knowing I was about to inconvenience my woman once again.
But I was looking forward to seeing her.
It’d been too many fucking days since I’d seen her scowl in my direction.
I missed it. Missed her. This was seriously cutting into my seduction time.
How was I supposed to make her fall in love with me when these kidnapping assholes wouldn’t hold still so we could exterminate them? Bullshit. That was what it was.
