A dozing Griff readjusted in bed, almost as though the events that could just barely be seen from his dorm room window had stirred him. Had he been awake, he might have been able to see tsunami-like waves hurtling high into the sky from Lovers' Lane Lake.

Almost in tandem, the entire room illuminated with a bright purple light pulsating from the pendant on the chain around Griff’s neck. Had he been awake, he might have noticed.

Fortunately or unfortunately, a musing sat at his desk chair with a curious look on his face as he watched the chain of connected—and certainly extraordinarily eerie—events unfold. His fingers moving fast, he sent a text message.

It’s happening.

An uncomfortable smile met his lips as his gaze returned to the window and the lake beyond it.
