Page 43 of Tortured Souls

“You seem surprised.”

“You have both of them? How did you do—?” I can’t finish my sentence. I’m so shocked at the sight of both men tied to chairs I can’t find the right words.

“Remember our new friends? They practically delivered them with a big red bow for you.” I glance up towards Saxon, who’s looking down at me, waiting for me to react. I don’t know what to say, so I just hug him. I wrap my arms around hisneck and squeeze, whispering my thanks in his ear. Not many women would ever thank their boyfriend for hand delivering their enemies for them to torture and murder, but this is the life we live.

Knowing that my list is rapidly reaching its end, a feeling of utter satisfaction and bliss fills me up like an overfilling glass of water. So long. I’ve been doing this for so long, and without the help of the Kings, I don’t know if this would have been possible. Sure, I would have tracked all the names down eventually, but the sheer speed at which Saxon and the guys delivered is astonishing. They’re like a well-oiled machine. Everyone has a part, and they all perform their roles with such fluidity.

I can almost feel the weight of my trauma evaporating from my shoulders. I’ve craved healing for years. Needed to wash away all the evil monsters of my past, so I can finally breathe and move past this cage I’ve placed myself in.

While Damien’s death didn’t feel as if my soul was healing, I hope by the end of my list, everything will fall into place like a puzzle. I’ve yearned for closure and prayed to every higher being that this venture I’ve started will lead me to the finish line of healing. I need this. I’ve needed this for so long, and if I don’t get an overwhelming feeling of success to wash over me by the end of this kill list, I fear I will forever be a broken, tortured soul. A soul that’s forever chained down by her trauma, and I’ve never wanted to be so wrong. I want to be happy; I want to be in a constant state of bliss and joy. I want to be like Sage and the girls who go on about their lives with not a single care in the world. So free and content with who they are. It’s a dream I hope becomes my reality. I’m just a girl in the end. A girl who wants what every person on this planet wants: to be loved and cherished and live a life worth waking up to.

That’s why I started this list. That’s why I’ve devoted my life thus far to eliminating the scum of this earth. A job I’vebestowed upon myself for the happiness of others, but also for me. So, as I stand here, staring at two names on the list, I send up a prayer to whoever’s listening that I find this in the end. That I find contentment so I can live. I can finally live.

Time to get to work.

SAXON

“Right, can we start now? I’ve been waiting all night for this!” Finn bellows from where he stands against the back wall. The steel table is set up with an array of weapons, lined up for the choosing. Sky laughs at his outburst, her footsteps echoing off the concrete as she goes over to the table to take a look.

“Wow, you really went all out for this, huh, Finn?”

“Well, duh. The more the merrier. Plus, experimentation is fun when it comes to finding new ways to torture people.” I watch as she slowly brushes her fingers across every weapon as she walks down the line.

Brooks, Owen, and Saint are upstairs in the office, so I shoot them a quick text, letting them know they can head on home. Finn and I can handle this disposal. I get no arguments from the guys, as they’re all exhausted as well and happily take the offer to go home. Plus, I want Saint at the house watching Sage. With my father’s murderer still out there, I’m not comfortable with her being alone.

“Alright, let’s get this party started, shall we?” Finn claps his hands so loud in his excitement, the noise echoes off the walls. Both men’s mouths are duct taped, but they haven’t made any attempt at trying to communicate with us, so I assume they’ve accepted their fates.

Walking over to Diego first, I rip his tape off with one pull. He lets out a groan but doesn’t say anything. I then do the same to Leonard, who does give me a nice “Fuck you” in response. Just because I want to, I punch him in the jaw, making his head snap to the side.

Sky makes her way over to my side, standing in front of the men while holding a pair of pliers.

“Well, well, well. If it isn’t the biggest pain in my ass. How’ve you been, you little bitch?” I can’t stop myself. I throw my fist into the side of Diego’s face. Blood shoots out of his mouth as his head jerks to the side. Sky grabs me by the bicep and pulls me to her, saying something I can’t hear at the moment. I’m too focused on this piece of shit and how he just called my girl a bitch.

After one more solid punch to the eye, Sky pulls me to her. Cupping my face in her hands.

“Look at me, Saxon. Look at me.” Peeling my dark gaze from the now bloodied man, I look into her eyes, and my world instantly calms.

“Listen, he can call me whatever he wants. Remember where he sits and that he’s minutes away from his own death.” Diegochuckles at that statement, but then his laughs morph into a bloodcurdling scream. Sky and I turn to see Finn slicing Diego’s ear completely off his head.

“You’re pretty bold to be laughing. Even when you’re tied to a fucking chair,” Finn says to the now gaping hole in the man’s ear. “Oh, shit. My bad, let me say it again in your good ear.”

“Finn,” I say to my deranged friend, giving him the look a father would give a child to tell them to knock it off. With both hands in the air, he backs away from the now crying Diego.

“Sky, listen. Your father—” Leonard is cut off by a now enraged Sky just from the mere mention of her father.

“My father is next on my list, so I suggest never speaking of that piece of shit in my presence again!” Leonard instantly shuts his mouth. His eyebrows pinch together as he gives her a deep scowl that I want to punch off his face. Picking up the pliers she discarded on the ground when she was pulling me off Diego, she steps up to the bloody man and kneels in front of him.

“This is how it’s going to go. I’m going to remove every tooth in your mouth, and I want you to swallow each one of them. Maybe if you successfully do this, I’ll give you misery.” Finn scoffs from the back of the room, but she only gives him a quick wink, letting him know there will be no mercy for these men tonight. This satisfies him, and he grins that evil grin he makes when he’s about to get blood on his hands. Diego spits out a glob of blood and shows his red-stained teeth before saying something that makes my stomach twist.

“Your father wanted me to tell you thank you. Thank you for all the information you’ve given him on the Kings these past couple of years.”

“Yeah, your loyalty to Sergio is unmatched. He’s very proud of you and pleased with how easy it’s been for you to weasel your way into enemy territory,” Leonard chimes in.

What the fuck did he just say?

My blood rushes beneath my skin. Clearly, this is all a lie. Right? Sky hates her father, and mother, for that matter. She’s been killing members since she got here. She said it herself—she wants to murder her parents with her own hands.

Two years. Two long years. Surely, she wouldn’t be playing the game for this long, right? I’m panicking, my chest caving in on itself as Sky starts talking to both men, but I can’t hear anything other than the blood rushing to my ears. My heart believes this is all a lie. It has to be. But my head is screaming at me.
