“I’m kind of lucky, you know?” He reached under the table and set his hand on Cooper’s thigh. Their knees bumped together and his chest filled with pride and promise for the future. “I get to love you every day for the rest of your life. That’s not a small thing. I don’t know what my life would have been without you.”

“You’re getting sappy in your old age,” Wyatt teased.

“It was an important day,” Grant said, and Cooper nodded in agreement.

“Very important day.”

Adam thought about all the things he’d learned about himself; about the things he could have lost if Cooper hadn’t given him a way to explore. He wasn’t one to ever linger on fate or destiny, but every person at the table had helped make his life what it was, what it would become.

And that was no small thing.

In fact, it was everything.
