Page 57 of To Love You
Even with the lights on, the main floor of the house was dimmer than the workshop. Cooper seemed to favor low, warm lights in his living space versus the bright white light in the basement. And floor lamps—the man was obsessed with floor lamps. Cooper twisted the knob on the one in the corner of the living room before collapsing onto the couch with a tired sigh. Adam sat beside him, pressing their bodies together and getting comfortable against the warmth of Cooper’s body heat.
“Wyatt is going to be here a month,” Cooper said. “Probably more.”
That was news to Adam. Not that he cared, though. He was serious when he told Wyatt he could stay as long as he wanted to, but somehow he hadn’t expected Wyatt would want to stay for a whole month. Sharing his space with his son would take some getting used to.
“That’s a bit,” he remarked.
“It makes sense for you to move in here,” Cooper said slowly, like he was picking the words carefully. “At least temporarily.”
“W-what?” Now it was Adam’s turn to stutter over the invitation.
“It would give Wyatt space to deal with Wyatt, and it could be a test run for you and me. To see if it would work.”
Adam flattened his hand on Cooper’s chest and shoved himself up to a sitting position. “You think we need a test run?”
“I think we’re both stubborn men, and while we’re committed to the idea of being with each other, that isn’t always enough.”
He frowned, flexing his fingers against the thin cotton of Cooper’s t-shirt. Cooper sensed his apprehension and curled his fingers around Adam’s wrist, holding him steady.
“If we want it to work, it will work,” Cooper assured him. “I’m just being practical.”
“A month.”
“Here.”
“Okay,” he said.
Cooper’s hand tightened around his wrist. “Okay?”
“I’ll move in with you for a month,” he said. Cooper pulled him down and slanted their mouths together, groaning with Adam’s weight settled on top of him. Adam smiled against Cooper’s hungry mouth and circled his hips, drawing swirls with the friction from their clothes.
“You won’t leave,” Cooper murmured against him, grabbing his hips and pulling him closer. “I don’t want you to leave.”
“You haven’t lived with me yet.”
“You haven’t lived withme. And this was your idea, not mine.”
“It’s a good idea.” He kissed Cooper again, licking into his mouth with a gentle moan. “And all your toys are here.”
“The better for me to use on you.” Cooper flipped him onto his back and rutted down against him, his hard cock pressing against the crack of Adam’s ass. Even through their clothes, it made him shiver. “One day, Adam. One day soon, I want to get inside of you again.”
“One day I’ll let you,” Adam grunted, spreading his legs wider.
Cooper kissed the corner of his mouth, his chin, his jaw, then he sat upright with a lazy grin. “But not tonight.”
“You’re mean.”
“I’m getting old,” Cooper corrected, climbing off the couch and holding out his hand. Adam took it begrudgingly, letting Cooper draw him up to stand. “And hungry.”
“I’ll give you something to munch on.” Adam raised his brows lasciviously.
“Rule one of living with me.” Cooper waggled his finger. “No horrible dad jokes.”
“That wasn’t a bad one.” Cooper shuffled into the kitchen and Adam laughed as he followed. “It was actually really good.”
“No dad jokes.”
“I’ll try.” He crossed his heart.
