He lowers his voice. “Theonlyrelease?”

“Are you ever not thinking about sex?”

“No.”

“Nate!” I laugh and he grabs my hand to kiss it. “Okay, other than hot sex with you, I have one activity that’s meditative, therapeutic. To try and monetize it, put it in a pressure cooker like that, it would be disastrous for my brain. No way.” He looks at me with a smirk, then back at the road. Then back at me again. “What?”

“I’m so proud of you, Sal.” He kisses my hand again. “Now you know.”

I nod. Now I know.

“Now you’re going to become the best neurosurgeon the world has ever seen, no doubt about it.”

“Let’s not get crazy.” I look away.

“Too late, baby. You make meabsolutelycrazy.” He squeezes my hand, so I look back at him. He’s staring at me, while driving.

“Nate! Look at the road!”

“Shit!” He tenses up but everything’s fine, we slow easily to a red light. He leans over and gives me a quick, sloppy kiss. “Mm. See? My personal little hazard.”
